Quit paying all the purse up front and spread it through the field instead of dropping off a cliff! It use to be a non full timer showed up at a usac race and lost a 100.00 on their payout.the new facilities are nice at the burg but it would be even better with the old track in front of those stands!

Just a couple more points I would like to make. First, anyone that buckles up in a Sprint Car has the courage to do it. I don’t take that away from anyone. Everyone has the right to choose where they want to compete and how much money they want to spend to do so.
Spanky, the Moose scenario you described is unfortunate, but I would bet they knew about the possibility of the outcome before they decided to do it. I don’t know for sure, but I would bet there’s a clause in the rules somewhere that prohibit racing against a scheduled race and if you do so you forfeit benefits. I’m old enough to remember when USAC drivers had to get permission to just run a race outside the sanction, much less against a scheduled event. No different than the Outlaws. They’re not saying you can’t run more than your 4 freebies, but you lose series perks if you do. It’s just business at that point, and I’m not saying I agree with it.
I know some of you remember the late great Merrillville Al. I remember him telling me after they reconfigured the Burg that it’s scary, like Eldora in its prime. I didn’t believe him till a couple years ago I went myself and saw that to be true. As a race fan that’s what I want see. You don’t take bank out of a track with the intention of making it more user friendly if everyone is comfortable with it. As I’ve stated before, I like my Sprint Cars hard on the loud pedal, not soft shoeing it to try to get grip on a black slick track.
A theory that has been floated for years about our racing here in Indiana, is why pay more. Yet some consistently say they deserve more money. I know the purses are top heavy, but that’s not exclusive to USAC. But as Chuck said there were 6 start spots open Saturday that went unclaimed. I would like to know the number of cars that went home from Fun Fest with less than 600 dollars. And through all this debate, not one person has said Brownstown wasn’t a skating rink

Im no expert and teams have their reasons. I don't think it's the track as much as USAC and some talking head announcers making it worse than it is. The tracks had a lot of runnoff lately (Cushion and Shane's kept the dip smooth at track exit) Boss had 23 and there are lots of drivers who like to go fast and teams. They just want to be competitve. In USAC. It's hard, very hard to crack top ten at bigger tracks. THAT had a poor count as well. Ballou's hurt. Hughes was running for MSTS championship. Bacon doing the wang thang. Coons went a different route while he has been running good in USAC. He wanted Cale to do the Dry Slicky and get experience.

I chatted with Shane a bit at BOSS show and he seemed open to running a couple more sprint dates next year. But it's gotta be something that cars will show up and a decent crowd will come. USAC Nationals had a decent crowd. Car count. I put on mostly USAC. Im not bashing it. It is what it is. The to 10-15 NW sprint race teams and drivers in the world. Not the only tops series having car count problems. There's been several HL and Outlaw shows barely pull full fields.

MSTS and BOSS should call Burg. Setup something. Maybe one show each and a Nationals battle of the states........... Put Circle City Fri and Burg Sat. Give bonus to highest in each.

Just ideas. It is what it is.

Of the unclaimed starting money that was referred to who got to keep that?? I certainly hope it was the track and not the sanction. I’d be interested to know. You can’t build a “national” series running a majority of your events in Indiana.More teams might exist nationally and counts could grow if you paid good money all year long and were able to grow your product outside of Indiana. What’s going on lately clearly isn’t working. No where else do they run 410 nw except CRA. Amazing you pay more money and run where there are nw cars and you have a 40+ car entry list two weeks out.

I’m surprised to read some local people blaming Usac. I’ve been told it’s everything else. Who woulda thunk it?

Just think, if the Arizona race was 3k and 300 to start they would have 60+

Well 2 MWT 410 guys are suspended for tire infractions and one other driver publicly stated he wasn’t going to race because his tires wouldn’t conform to USAC standards. Wonder how many others were in the same boat?

As a sprint car owner who’s raced at 2 USAC sprint shows this season at Burg,3 things no one has mentioned

1. Burg is far harder on engines (and other equipment) than those other tracks being talked about.

2. Some guys are just out of money and equipment at this point of the season.

3. And maybe most overlooked - when a track stops hosting sprint cars as a weekly or semi regular class, racers take notice. Awfully hard for those who don’t already have laps there to justify trying to go there on a USAC night, even against a field of 18 cars.

Finally, it’s not always about $. Yes, some of those Brownstown cars could have made a few more bucks at Burg Saturday night. But how many cars outside of the USAC regulars had a legit shot at a top 5 or top 10 at Burg, let alone win. Sometimes you just want to chalk up a good run vs just making a show. The argument of it paid $20k to win means nothing to 80% of the cars in Indiana, I believe there’s been 9 winners in USAC competition this year and all are USAC regulars. This isn’t a cry against USAC, they are the best in the business, and we feel good when we make a USAC show, but a lot of us are realistic in our chances at cracking the top 5 or top 10, much less winning a USAC race at a place like the Burg. Last thing I’ll say; I’ve heard rumblings about sprint cars back semi regularly there in 2026 and I sure hope it happens.

*** Edit ***. There have been 12 winners. The 3 non regulars are all former USAC regulars. Pursley, Bacon, and Carson Garrett.

Yeah, Lets race for more $$ then don't.................

I think Friday had a 444 dollar first non transfer that went unpaid.
trouble is no way to have known there were going to be 4 open feature spots before loading up. They could have 4 non qualifier positions for a lot less money
