Some racer’s are afraid of the Burg and they had an option to go race on a track that’s usually a skating rink. The Burg is not for the faint hearted. I didn’t realize how challenging it was until I went there in person. Not everyone wants that kind of challenge. It does prove a theory that I haven’t always endorsed, it’s not about the payout with our wingless racer’s. They will race for peanuts.
How about the bad luck for Grant? Blows the engine leading Friday and blows the tire 5 laps from the end last night costing him 40 grand. Apparently a black cat crossed his path on the way to Lawrenceburg |

Interesting that the skating rink you are referring to actually offered more passing for the first three places than Lburg did.
B-Town 1st place started 6th 2nd place started 4th 3rd place started 3rd L-Burg 1st place started 2nd 2nd place started 1st 3rd place started 5th If I was the paying fan, I'd have been happy seeing drivers that were afraid of the Burg and chose the skating rink to put on more passing. Sadly, I chose to go to Kokomo for night two of the Klash. It was the worst dust storm I'd ever seen at Kokomo. Not sure what happened to their usual track prep. I get it, two shows in two nights. But the paying fans and drivers did not deserve a rock-hard dusty track where you could not see the cars in turns 1 and 2, and sometimes down the front stretch. After the heat races, they drove their water truck around packing the track and adding no water. Huh? Guess they were ready for the season to end. |

You’re splitting hairs there on the passing deal. Jake went 12 to 5, CJ 10 to 4, among the best at a track that demands courage. No disrespect to anyone at Brownstown, it’s everyone’s choice to do what they want. As a fan, I will take the track that requires more fortitude than a track that provides a participation trophy

4 600 dollar to start payouts left on the table. Better than third at B town.
Yeah, Lets race for more $$ then don't................. I think Friday had a 444 dollar first non transfer that went unpaid.

It is not about the Burg, it is 100% about USAC. 70 cars in Indiana have a yearly budget of about $50,000. Going up against USAC cars with $500,000 to $1,000,000 budgets is hard. Why go to a race where you WILL NOT WIN.
Why go to a USAC race where you won't get interviewed to show off your sponsors? Why go to a race where the "GOOD OL' BOYS" are treated better. Why go to a race where rules don't apply equally? Case in point: The Moose team did not go to Eastern Storm because the did not want to spend the funds. They stayed in Indiana and raced one race at Tri-State Speedway which is right next door to where they live. USAC took all of their owners perks away for the rest of the year.

Im in some agreement to this. You have to buy a usac temp license to run it. Also some tracks pay track points for USAC some don't. Burg did not have a points fund this year for sprints. But several cars that were there two weeks ago were not for USAC The two Wedgewood cars ran very well at USAC but 9th is not Win going away like two weeks ago for BOSS. You got 900hp tuned motors for all top ten USAC teams While over half of IND Teams have 1990s dash 12s Many usac guys have a million laps a driver and a notebook that in many cases goes back decades. Eldora used to be like burg. Foot to floor.slide for lifes and teams went to be part of it. Even their counts are down. To be the best, you gotta race with the best. However I see less and less teams willing to suffer the expense of doing so. Many single owner two car teams are now three owner one car teams ect. I'd really like to see what a ASCS style Non winged deal would do for IN/Oh non wing racing. Yeah, the motors are pricey but they last a couple seasons. Not run thru 3 or 4 in one year I also agree with the interviewing. You got three pit reporters and they do the heat winners and victory lane only.............. ***?

I don't care what your particular excuse is, I am done listening to the non-wing racers cry that they need more races that pay more. they didn't support Lawrencburg and they didn't support Haubstadt for the Hustler at least not like they should, the Smackdown should be getting a C-main but it doesn't either.
It sounds like what they really want is for someone to pay alot of money to a track and a position that they want... like pay $4,000.00 to win the B-main or something at a skating rink somewhere. It is true that Lawrenceburg is demanding and I think it should be for extra money, just like Eldora back in the day, one thing is for sure though, even though they didn't have a car count the baddest dudes were there and they put on a show. I already am planning on going back next year and we'll see if any more cars and drivers find the testicular fortitude to be there and race. |
