The Fair Board is trying crowd funding to try to install a new Pa system that fans can hear
You can if you want. You don't have too is you don't want.
Our Goal: $43,000
We’re asking our community of fans, racers, and supporters to help us raise $43,000 to purchase and install a brand-new system that includes:
Guess I’ll be the first to say I’m not a fan of this. They should be getting funds from the county, or be soliciting donations from businesses. 43 Grand is an awful lot. Not sure they need “ State of the art gear “. How much do they raise from parking during the Fair? Place has been on the verge a few times of closing, so there’s no guarantee that if you donate it will be there for a long time. Don’t think this should be put on the fans that already pay to attend.

Yes and no. For the racer it's better. They won't give a darn whats said on the Pa when on the track
For the fan, When you can't hear lineups or much of anything with just one car at Idle speed or a water truck on the track. IT SUCKS. Not to mention downtime interviews with old time racers and stuff and of course. Victory
lane speeches. You can usually hear it on Flo. Can't hear em at the track.
There's a option listed in the description of the page to send directly to the track to avoid card and go fund mes take. I WAs hoping some businesses or Rich people around would contact em. Maybe for a billboard 10k It's gonna take a lot of us 20-50 dollar people to make a dent
As I said in the post. You can or don't if you want. Thats fine
We all have a opinion just like backsides.
2-way speakers are like triple the cost. Good horn speakers like what Haubstadt has work great for a lot less money. In fact, the horn speakers at Terre Haute used to be more than loud enough. We always heard Mike King loud and clear!
I'll admit I've been a complainer about the TH sound system for the last few years. Sitting off turn 4 in the open bleachers I'm not even sure those speakers worked. I'll agree with Charles - every track needs a good sound system. Why have a HoF announcer like Pat Sullivan if you can't hear him. Fans need to hear line-ups, interviews and updates. Even Little League fields have good speakers.
As far as costs go, I was told the new Anderson Speedway sound system cost over $40,000. If anyone went to the Little 500, they had Dirt Vision broadcast playing over their speakers. It was amazing sound. I'm not sure the TH Go Fund Me system is the way to go. Just another way to pressure the local fans to pay for a county fairgrounds. Doesn't seem fair. But time will tell.
PS. If this system works, maybe Brownstown Speedway can have a Go Fund Me page for new lights for their track. It's gotta be the darkest track in Indiana. Went there last Saturday and it seems like they're racing in the dark.
I will end up donating. I will ask about a short range FM transmitter. That would allow us to listen to the race through head phones or bluetooth earbuds.
