Because more often than not these races are scheudled with great cooperation from Jiggs and the folks from Gas City - and if you will look, on the night of the Sheldon Kinser race the UMRA TQ's were scheduled there. If Bloomington offered a higher paying race on a night that Gas City had a regular program that could hurt their crowd and car count which would be the wrong thing to do when you have someone who goes out of their way to work with you for good of everyone.

It would seem to me.... somewhere along the line.... big races such as that would have a rain date agreed to. I think it's wonderful Jiggs and Miles work together on big races. At some point.... agreeing to rain out options should be discussed. They do compete for a weekly car count...... IMO it's time to work on rain dates. It's a travesty a race held in memorial of a great racer and from all accounts wonderful man will not be run. His memory deserves better.

I wouldn't be lecturing Mike Miles on how the memory of Sheldon Kinser should be served, Don. I think over the years, he's done right by Sheldon's memory. Just my opinion.

So, therefore, do not reschedule any races rained out? Is this the bottom line? I'm sorry but I do not buy into not rescheduling a top race such as this. Never will buy into it. A weekly race.... well I understand that. I see the "big" races with reschedule dates at other facilities because they are showcase events. Eldora does it for their big races. This race qualifies as a big race for Bloomington.
So, we are left to assume then that the Sheldon Kinser Memorial is dictated by money and not a memorial race for him..... this is truly sad. I hope the Kinser family hears this loud and clear. For a family who credits Bloomington for so much of their racing careers this is just plain sad. And a slap in the face.
Jerry: yes he has over the years. And now we have the race rained out and no scheduled rain date... so we just walk away like it never happened or was going to happen. I just find it to be a bit much. An event like this should have a rain date IMO. Anything less is a travesty to Sheldon and the Kinser family. I am not LECTURING Mike Miles. I am stating an opinion.
He's rescheduled this race, in past years, when there was an opportunity. Perhaps, this year, it's just not in he cards. And sure, maybe it's just your opinion. But, you're using expressions like "slap in the face" and words like "travesty". That sounds overly dramatic and personal, towards someone who has forgotten more about the ways he's honored Sheldon Kinser, than you'll ever think about doing. If I were Mike and either of the websites you represent were on my media list, you wouldn't be there any more.
