No seat saving after the heats start seems like a good rule of thumb

When in doubt Gas It

So if they chose to "blanket" 40 ft of the top row that would b acceptable to u? After all they did pay for their 2 seats and it's first come first served ?

In my opinion. No blankets or seats should be put down until the gates are open. Especially people that don't even use them until the races are well underway.

Im all for first come, first served, However there has to be some etiquette involved. If by race time some of the people that were supposed to come don't. Take em up. Yeah, some tracks have ample seating and some don't but if its a good crowd and you got more than you need, Give it up. Make someone elses day who didn't get there till race time and still found a good seat.

However, I've been on the opposite end of complete A-Hole-Ness before Getting to a track way early or a day before, Going back to the pits before race time, Come back and find my ONE CHAIR and COOLER thrown a couple rows down and them saying, We'll you wen't sitting in it they said, I got my seat, went elsewhere and when they went to the bathroom. Guess who's chairs were gone over the back of the grandstand They came back, looked at me and I just pointed where they were? I don't get mad, I get even.

I completely agree. As a fan its a whole lot simpler if a track either sells reserved seats, actually sticks to the gate opening time, or makes it publicly known that its acceptable to mark off seats for a particular race at a specific time and date. There is nothing more frustrating than showing up at the time the gates "opened" to find a sea of blankets already covering half or more of the stands.

My back gets to hurting if I don't have a back rest. We try to get to the track 1 hr to 1 1/2 hrs before start time so that we can get a top row seat . Unless the track we know has back rests on all the seats. We know that we run a chance of not getting a top row seat but there's only 2 of us so usually we can find room.
Another thing that should b outlawed is those dam "stadium" chairs that basically wipe out the seat behind them. Dammit I'm starting to sound old n crabby! Probably this this thing about "stand up paddle board yoga " on CNN now . Ugggggggg

I will add one more to the mix. Coolers. I love the people that bring in coolers and bags of stuff. Then you need to get by them and they act like you are the one being the pain in the a##. I am not talking about the 6 pack type, I am talking about the old school camping in the woods for a week type.

I never take more seats than i need and i have always been pretty lucky no body has moved my seats. Of course i could count on one hand how many times i have put seats down well before the gates open. I have often worried about someone pulling uo my blanket when im up roaming around or going to the bathroom. I was once accused of stealing some ones saved seat at kokomo. There was nothing there when we arrived so we took the seat. Later in the night i noticed plastic on the floor underneath the grand stand. They still had plenty of room for their group. Especially since most of them were gone the whole time. If you reserve a seat make sure the wind wont blow your blanket or plastic away. I felt kind of bad once i noticed the plastic under the bleachers.
