If you have been to DuQuoin for the "Battle at the Center" midget races, you know how great the racing is!

If you haven't been, feast your eyes on this video!

We hope to see everyone there next Saturday for the 4th annual "Battle at the Center" featuring the Lucas Oil POWRI National Midget Series.

No doubt one of the best bullring midget races on the calendar!

I'm planning to go for the first time. I'm guessing if I get there when the gates open at 3:00 I should be able to find a good seat. It appears capacity is maybe 1,000 tops from looking at the video. Planning on leaving Chatham at noon.

Headed South towards Southern Illinois early Saturday morning of the December 7th on the 5 hour journey to Du Quoin. Really looking forward to some Winter midget racing in the Southern Illinois Center and also driving through the Holiday Lights Fair on the adjacent fairgrounds.

It's amazing how they transform the fairgrounds from what we see when we're at The Du Quoin State Fair for the Labor Day Weekend races to the spectacular 2 1/2 mile Christmas light show in December. They even hang lights all over the back of the main grandstands.

This will be the 4th or 5th time we'll be seeing the midgets race on The Mini Magic Mile and we have yet to walk out of the Southern Illinois Center feeling we didn't get our money's worth and more.

Looks like it could snow in Du Quoin on Friday but sunny on Saturday with a high of 26 degrees.

Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.

Sad to say that we won't be making the trip over to DuQuoin this year. We have hit the majority of indoor shows there and have never been disappointed. POWRI does a great job in running a very timely & entertaining event. I hope you all enjoy the evening of racing. We are already sad and it is only Monday.
