RAIN WASHES OUT ACTION AT BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY

Bloomington Speedway played host to the first “Bonus Night” of the season, handing out some added pay to the winners of the Sprint Car, UMP Super Stock, and UMP Modified divisions. The extra bonus money even enticed an “Outlaw” to take off the wing and run with the Non-Wing Sprint Car Division. Tim Kaeding of San Jose, CA decided to go wingless en route to a neighboring World Of Outlaws event.

What started out as a sunny, warm, and bright day gave way to overcast skies and wind by the time festivities began. Sending fans to grab a sweatshirt or light jacket. The gusty winds played havoc with pre race track preparations, making for a slick set of hot lap sessions. Undaunted, promoter Mike Miles worked steadily after hot laps to water the track and make for a superb racing surface.

38 Sprint Cars broke down into four heats with Kyle Cummins taking heat one over Tim Kaeding, Jon Sciscoe over rookie Jesse Cramer, who started seventh in heat two, Kevin Briscoe over Kody Kinser in heat three, and Jeff Bland, Jr. over Arin McIntosh. Two B-Mains were necessary, transferring the top two to the A-Main. The first B Main went to Joss Moffatt over Kenny Niflis

21 UMP DirtCar Modifieds sorted out into three heats with Clint Demoss winning heat one over Greg Amick, Shelby Miles in heat two over Jacoby Hines, and Kent Robinson over Matt Boknecht in heat three

29 UMP Super Stocks ran three heats with Chris Hillman winning heat one over Nathan Patman, Winston Howe over Jason Thomas in heat two, and Lee Hobbs over Jeremy Hines in the third heat.

With the second Sprint Car B-Main on the track, the rain began to fall onto the speedway, forcing track officials to send the cars back to the pit area. Since the event was rained out before all B-Mains were finished, all tickets are good for $12 towards future admission. Next Friday night will bring the “Spring Clash” paying $3,000 to win for Non Winged Sprint Cars, an event sure to bring in the heavy hitters in Non Winged Sprint Car Racing. UMP DirtCar Modifieds and UMP Super Stocks will join in on the action.

I'm certainly glad that I didn't make the drive from Evansville. I was almost ready to leave when the sky clouded over here and my optimism left me. I chose to have a nice dinner with my wife at The Haub Steak House instead of going racing, and it proved to be the right choice.
Hope we get some decent weather next weekend.

About two and a half hours. It is right at 130 miles from my house to the track. I take Hwy 57 to Washington, US50 from Washington to Hwy 37 at Bedford, and follow 37 to the turnoff at Old Walnut Street.

Without stopping at my parents house I can roll it in an hour and 20 minutes... do it every Friday during school to be there.... tonight was fun when it rained. ugh

I stop to eat at Bedford, so that adds to my time. I probably estimated a little on the high side, but you must be driving some outrageous speeds if you do it in an hour and twenty minutes. I run as fast as traffic will allow and run around 65-70 when in the clear. There are more speed traps appearing each year it seems. There is a state trooper now just east of Logootee. My radar detector, fortunately, lets me know of his presence.
By the way, what route do you use? I think I may take the longest one, but I've gotten use to stopping at certain restaurants, etc., so I just keep on going that way.

I run 41 N to 67 to 46 into B-town (runs right by my house) 41 is usually around 70 mph...and 60ish on 67.. no real problems.. construction on 41 popping up now, so its a little slower, but nothing outrageously fast. No big hurry I only have morning classroom ours from 7:35-9:35am..then relax and head.:greenflag:

Now that sounds more like it! You were giving me a giant inferiority complex, because I thought I always made pretty good time, and I said, wow, an hour and twenty minutes; I can't match that.

Trent my quickest time from Haubstadt to my house is 1hr and 40 mins. I had the aid of a full moon. Average speed was 70-75 on 41 and 80-90 on 67-46. :kookoo:Steer
