I went one better than that, and went over to his house to see him on Saturday.I'm not planning on getting back over to Illinois till next month, and Lincoln Speedway is only a hundred miles or so from East Alton,so why not drive down and see him. An added bonus to going there,is that I get to see even more Corn and Soybeans growing, like I dont get enough if seeing that here in Indiana

As I have noted earlier,he still has a sense of humor, which I heard when I walked in the door, and a I heard him say from the other room "You are missing hot laps" I thought I might have arrived there to early (10am) but Morty said no,and also noted that he woke up at 5am yesterday.

So I had a pretty good chat with Morty and Debbie, and we talked about a bunch of things, including how he became the President of the Tracy Hines fan club many years ago. I remember reading all that years ago on Hoseheads message board, even before I knew who Morty was,and I just heard the whole funny story this past winter.

I asked about the pain level, and he said it was a 3 on a 1-10 scale, and manageable. He told me he has 2 more trips for radiation on Monday and Tuesday, and then meets with the Oncologist on Thursday to plan out the next level of attack. Says its much nicer sleeping in his own bed than at the Hospital, and I heard a couple more hospital stories which had me laughing once again.Last week at the Hospital I was afraid they were going to come in and ask me to be quiet from the laughter as not to disturb the others..

He also told me he has been reading Indiana Open Wheel, but has been unable to log on,and has to get his password reset, apparently. So keep posting,I am sure he likes to read the posts.

Those slippers were part of the funny Hospital stories! I asked if they came from an old Exxon promotion

You're in my thoughts and prayers, Randy. We only met the one time at Granite City and I was fortunate to witness your exuberance and energy. Hang tough and remember that God has a plan for each and every one of us.

Morty, you may have less hair than me for now, but not to worry. Yours will grow back.

Hoping to see you soon if things can be worked out.

I think of you, Bill and Dave quite a bit. You guys have people asking the Almighty to cut you all some slack. We pray that His will is to keep you all around a bit longer to throw a few more slide jobs.

Obviously, dad has always been more active than I am here on IOW. Since I'm just now seeing this thread, I want to say thank you! It's great to see all of your kind words.

We're glad to have him back home! We're gonna beat this thing. Especially since there's a grandbaby on the way in need of spoiling!

Keep the prayers coming!

Been a long time since I posted anything here on IOW. But if anything could get me to post. It would have to be to let Morty know he is also in my thoughts. Hang tough and get through this challenge in life Morty
