The MMSA "Winged Warrior Tour" will be in action this sun. May 26th at the 1/4 mi. Charlestown, IN Podium 1 track,
Thanks to Dad's Auto Sales LLC the winner will receive a $100 increase over regular payout, other increases/bonuses will be posted on the MMSA website by friday, We are still seeking additional sponsorship.

As mentioned in other threads on this site, a major success is needed ( a lot of race cars & fans) for future events on this track.

Watch the MMSA website for more details in the next few days.

Well went out last night to do a little test and tune at Charlestown Speedway aka Podium I and get a little data.

The track was as smooth as a pool table. It measured 1400 feet around the outside and a little less than 1200 feet on the inside. We were running a 10.74 to 1 gear and driving moderately. We peaked out a just a tad under 13000 rpm.

This will be a drivers track. Flat real wide and and not a lot of clay to make it heavy. He was working and watering it when we got there and guaranteed it would hold up the whole race and not rut up.

He was very open to suggestions and really wants to make a top notch track out of the place again.

By the way we blew up number 4 so Will be there without a car I guess.

Patrick this is a wing race but i understand they are looking at non wing race in the future. Big motors aren't going to help much at this track. get er fixed.

Dad

Never measured any other track before, what track would it be similar to. We are out in left field for a gear.

Like Bloomington, Columbus, Salem or Brownstown

Thanks for any help.

Sounds good to me... Lol my ignition system is on its way back as we speak. Hopefully that's all that took me out at Montpelier a few weeks ago. The cool part is charleston is off of 62. It's the same 62 that's a mile south of my place and 3 hours north of the track. Great to see a track asking for mini sprints to come down and I hope as many as possible can help with this effort!!! Thank you

I would say between Salem and Brownstown in size. The map it created was more like the Old Lawrenceburg. No straights just big sweeping oval (opal shape). The gear I quoted should be about right. Since you guys are quite a bit lighter you might go just a tad higher in gear. Driving will win this race.
