Looks like your a true to blue Indy Racing fan.
Hope you enjoy the races in the future. The races on radio aren't bad either. I'm looking forward to the Indy 500. Larry "O":applaud: |

And the conspiracy theorys abound. Hows it Tony's fault teams ask for money and the only expansions they can make are road coarses? maybe because both series were so diluted, THEY HAD TOO?

Who cares, they are all going to NASCAR anyways. Nothing against NASCAR though. They do a helluva job.

With lawsuits pending against them and teams having to take extraordinary measures to get their points fund money from last season, CCWS was going out of business anyway. Their bargaining position rested solely on Long Beach. But even then, their position was compromised because they had to rely on the IRL to have a race there (sounds like in 2009) so they would not be sued by the city for breach of contract.
The IRL was in much better shape. With the 500 printing money every year, Honda engines, a television package, etc... Even with all of that, Honda has stated they might lose interest if no other engine manufacturer joined. The TV contract is up at the end of this year or the next... While the IRL was in a much stronger bargaining position, they could not ignore the potential of a merger, especially with the confirmed car count hovering around 16 cars for this upcoming season. It is a shame that this couldn't be a merger of two strong open wheel racing series. Instead, the story will be spun by the nascar nation press that: "CCWS last act before filing bankruptcy was to join the IRL. The IRL desprately needed the CCWS teams to avoid low car counts for this season as it struggles to remain relevant." What a shame However, as a fan, I am excited about the new teams and am hopeful that we get less new street circuits and more new road circuits. |

"The big announcement will be at a noon press conference on Friday 2-22-2008 of the merger, the wait is over." I must have missed. I think I'd put the, "my information is always on the money", bullet back in your holster. You might want to save that for another time. If posting information that there was no news conference is slamming you, then sorry I guess. |
