How about something along the lines of an award in memory of our late buddy Corey "Petey" Martin. Yesterday was his 35th birthday....how about $ for the 35th in points on Saturday (results of a tough Thurs and Fri). Or first car owner to miss the A, B, or C main....just thoughts.

Good ideas! Petey's dad called me a couple weeks ago and we had a nice chat. Actually I hear thru the grapevine that Stubb will be coming over for the Smackdown, and I am pretty sure Stubb has Petey's "Mopar Million" bean bag boards, that he uses at Hoserville Ohio fundraisers and stuff like that. If so,maybe I'll get his thoughts on it,and have him pass that one out.

Maybe we can hand out an IOW "Unofficial missing fan of the year award" in your honor. What pill draw would we use for that?? Age?,how many years you have been on the fire dept?. The age of your hot rod?
Or do we count up how many races we think you have missed the last couple years of winning your award?

I was thinking that Morty isnt going to be the IOW "Unofficial missing fan of the year" this year,as Aero has him beat easily. I know Aero was gonna give an award last year in memory of Sprinter, his beagle that passed away last year. I dont know if he ever got the chance to do that because of weather, late in the season, etc.

So maybe we'll have a "In memory of Sprinter" award.

Collecting money was off to a brisk start yesterday. Thanks to Jerry Spencer for letting me borrow a bucket off them, which Monica Clauson decorated and set out on a table at Camp Clauson. I didnt get to the Speedway till 5 yesterday, but everyone told me it was very scccessful so far. I havent counted it yet to see if we're near the goal. If we go over the goal,we'll add to the amounts, and maybe add in more awards.

I'll be out and about collecting when things get a bit livelier at the track today.

In the meantime, the Camp Clauson is located closest to the speedway end of the motorhome parking,in the 3rd row from the grain building towards the street. It has Budweiser banners strung up around the motorhome as well. As usual its a popular gathering spot for people to stop by and talk racing.

Stop on by !!

I also talked to Ken Wagner (better known as Wags) from California last night. He offered some info on what he used to do when he used to collect "Wagsbucks" and hand them out at the track. He told me over the years he handed out OVER 600 thousand dollars!!! Its basically where I got this idea from, and I'll be talking to him more later today.

It better be a hell of a wedding! You use the term "a friend of hers", does that mean she isn't a friend of yours Jim? I could understand that she might now be a former friend. Throw down a couple for me while your at it.
