How about Harry Hyde's "FIDO"? A beautiful blue Indy Car converted to a modified (wana be sprint car) , Driven by Andy Hampton back in the 50's. They say that Harry was the guy in "Days of Thunder" before he moved down to NASCAR.

Yes, it was Gene "Pappy" Henson of Paris, IL who drove "The Flying Eyeball" and that was the name I had in mind also as one of the coolest.

The Gold Deuce based in Metropolis, IL and driven by several top shoes at Haubstadt, was also one of my favorites. Larry Miller and Cliff Cockrum were among the drivers who piloted this car. Another favorite car nickname was "The Big Bertha" #22 that Larry Miller won so many races in. I believe Keith Ford still owns this car.
