If Mr Sides was looking for a professional response to a written contract, he should have submitted a written request via certified mail. Unless it's written into the non-compete clause in the WoO contract, WRG is under no obligation to respond to a voice mail or text. In the absence of a written "yes", the answer is "no".

I get that most people don't like contracts, lawyers and the strict rules, but it was Mr. Sides who agreed to the rules when he signed the contract.

Does anyone know where this lawsuit is standing right now? Has there been a ruling yet?

From what little I know about the law (cough, cough), nobody forced Mr. Sides to agree to WoO rules for their points fund, travel money or contingency dollars at the start of the season. He obviously knew what the rules were if he even had to ask for permission. If he wants to participate in the up side ($$$), he has to play by their rules. Right?
Not if WOO has any history of giving exemptions to any team since this rule has been in place. If, indeed, Jason did legitimately seek permission to run this race from WOO, he may be able to assume de facto permission from the non-response after having spoken to the proper authority in WOO. If WOO has granted past exemptions, he may have a case.
