The MMSA would like to express our appreciation to the 42 cars/Drivers that supported the "Mini" series of 6 races in 7 days, cars came from 8 states, there were 5 different winners, 6 different hard chargers, only 6 cars/drivers made all 6 events, Collin Ambrose won the points championship by a single (1) point over Doug Jones.
With this much support resulting in a 22-23 avg. car count we will attempt to repeat the series next season.

Thanks to J. D. Byrider of Columbus, IN for their sponsorship.

The next race on the schedule is a Non Wing event on Thur. July 28th
at Brownstown, IN paying $600 to win. more details later on the MMSA website.

I checked on the MMSA web site and see you guys run 1000cc limit, fuel injection. I just wonder why, and I brought this up before, you make the older oil cooled engines, specifically gsxr 1200 illegal to run. Theres still a ton of them motors out there and they're about the strongest, longest lasting engine you can buy. Everyone talks keeping costs down, but some of the rules make no sense. Besides that I hope to come out next year and run with you guys :2: Congrats on your series, sounds good.

Save your money the old 1200's do make good boat ancors. But they won't live as long or run as good as a new $1500.00 or $2000.00 liter motor off of EBAY. Look for 2005 or newer motor and you should do fine.

Come to some races, and ask around. Id be glad to share my thoughts about MINI "LIGHTNING SPRINTS" with you. We need all the cars we can get.

Well you dont know much about the old gsxr oilcooled engines, they're still in demand for big time motorcycle drag racing. They run up to 400-500 hp with no problems and they last forever. My engine runs as good as, and way stronger then any 1000 off ebay. Other thing is, it's what I got, which was my point to begin with.

In the sprints they are just too heavy and expensive to hot rod. They work fine on drag strips with reallly big with after-market jugs stroker cranks and big pistons valves valve springs and cams but a 1200 cc and no nitro aganist a stock 125 lb 2010 gsxr 1000cc making 200 stock hp of the bike is not much contest. Tth 1200 cc are still in demand on drag strips sell yours make some profit and buy one of these little motors. I ran an 2005 zx10r for 4 years never took the head off and got a newer motor for the new trick stuff.
We don't need Orient express to be racey. When we race we will put or throttle wide open and run 5 or 6 miles this way at 12000 rpm's plus. Back in the 1200 days you needed 3 motors one in the race car, one at Orient express being put back together and one in the air either back or forth to Orient express. That got real expensive. Our drag strip is 5 miles long.

Problem is when a rule is made, someone is gonna be unhappy, however the rules we have right now are about as good as they will ever be. It sucks for the guys who have them, and if they were stock I wouldn't care if they ran with us.

Well I understand what your saying but disagree with your points. I have no nitro, my engine is solid and dependable and theres no stock 200 hp newer engine that will touch it. The weight isnt a issue cause my car only weighs 705 lbs with a half tank of fuel. They may be expensive to hotrod but that personally isnt a issue cause I got such a good deal on the car, with a fresh engine. The point about you running for 5 miles at 12000 rpm, has nothing to do with how I run my engine. I understand the new liquid cooled engines are marvels, I'm just saying if we were both to bring a car, your stock 1000 and my ancient boat anchor, to a local track be prepared to be out gunned by my 20 year old engine. Now I dont want to turn this into a pissin contest, my whole point is sometimes during rule making not everything is thought out at times. It would be easy to include the older engines, have a 1000cc rule for liquid cooled and 1200 for everything else. Why not give someone who has a perfectly good car the chance to race against the newer engines, obviously by the above posts my engine is a joke anyhow, so what would be the problem ?

Backitin; I don't know where you are located, but, apparently out of our area, When the MMSA was organized, the first year we allowed the 1200 motors, giving local racers with those motors a year to change to the
1,000's, stock bore & stroke which
is easy to police, we have a weight handicap on cars using alcohol, we weigh cars at every race.
All this being done in an effort to keep competition as even as possible.
There are clubs in the midwest that run the big motors, so you do have a choice of places to run, it's unfortunate that your car does not confirm to our rules, we welcome more competition, but, at this time I see no need to change the rule.
I wish you good luck whever you race, you must have had a place in your area where your car is legal or you would not have bought it.
If you choose, when your car meets our rules, we welcome you to race with the MMSA.

backitin if you wanna run your 1200 engine in your car this year check out some AMSA races they allow 1200's to run but there is a weight rule for them. Im not trying to persaude you to run with AMSA all the time but if you wanna race this year check into it. The MMSA has a great program and some great tracks to race and I enjoy running with them so im not saying AMSA is better than MMSA or anything im just listing an option for you.
