Like you I don't own one, but I have worked on them which does absolutely nothing to validate my opinion (just like it does for you).

My comment was made because your post was made an hour after one of the new USAC bosses came on this board and provided some statements about what transpired at the supposed "super secret" meeting and a little insight as to what they are trying to do to upright the ship.

Your comments were obvious attacks at USAC. They've been beaten to death on another thread by others besides yourself that fail to see that USAC is making a serious attempt to put some stability back in the Silver Crown Series and return to the level that it rightfully belongs.

Iconoclast, I am (and was) very aware of what you reported, but just because the new teams have affiliations with NASCAR doesn't mean that the "new rule about numbers clearly was written to benefit the newest NASCAR-related contingent who are running NEW GEN cars. It is also equally biased against dirt cars."

Something besides the NEW GEN cars has put a bug up your butt about USAC. Come clean and explain EXACTLY what it is you have against them. Did one of the officials steal your gum when you were little?

My comment was not an attack on USAC in general, but on what I believe to be a discriminitory rule.
It is impossible for a dirt car to compete in 51% of the races, so they will not be guaranteed their same number from year to year. A pavement car can. So this rule is unfair to teams that didn't buy a Pavement Car. That's my beef. Wether I own a car or not, I still believe that the rule is unfair and this being America, I am entitled to my opinion.
I had not seen Mr.Miller's post before I wrote my post, which is not related to anything he commented upon in his post.
I hope that Mr.Miller can straighten out whatever ails USAC. I really have very few complaints, other than the rule which started this thread & that I liked the old pavement cars better than the new pavement cars.

Have a great day & a Merry Christmas!

You are very naive if you think that the rules, meetings and competition have not clearly been constructed to benefit New Gen owners.

Point #1: The rule WAS designed to favor the NASCAR contingent. Since more than 51% of the races scheduled in 2007 were pavement races, there was NO WAY POSSIBLE that a "dirt car only" team could compete in greater than 51% of the races. So why then the need for a new rule if not to give the NASCAR contingent a chance to get the numbers that they wanted? Why didn't the Western Speed and Roger Penske team just get assigned #112? Are you thinking that the Galas #12 gladly gave up their number, or that in early 2007 they accidentally got their entry in late? Read Jeff Swindell's article in a national publication for the real reason.

D. Numbers 2 through 99 will be assigned to entrants on a permanent basis providing a car registration has been received prior to January 15 of each year. To be eligible to retain a number an entrant must have entered and/or made an effort to compete in 51% or more of the scheduled races in the previous season. The number 1 is reserved for the National Champion driver and will not be reassigned. The use of number 1 is not cause to relinquish the competitor

Hey Dave and Dwight those wins with Gary B at the wheel along with the wins with Jeff Swindell came under the Delrose/Holt ownership. As far as I know Robert Galas was the crew chief for Delrose/Holt.

In the book "Dirt Road to a Silver Crown" Galas Motorsports is listed as the entrant for the winning car of Kevin Thomas at Terre Haute on 7/5/96.
