I cleaned out some old junk in my garage and found this in the first issue of THE CHARGER Racing paper from March 1969.

Maybe somebody would find it interesting.:2:

This car once durning summer tire test was the fastest car at Indy at 172.621. Things have changed.
Also somewhere is a picture of O.J. Simpson sitting in this car while we were building it in the Avon, In. shop. That shop is the red brick garage behind the dealership at CR 525 & 36 in Preswick.
This was the last Laycock Mongoose built by Dave Laycock, my brother, me, Joe Silnas, Bill Spangler, Joe McKinney and Randy Binki.
Those were good days. You never knew who would be in the shop hanging out drinking beer and vodka at the end of the day.
Hard to believe that Indy 500 cars could really be built by Americans in their shop behing their house in those days.
Thanks Al great to see your post.

That is very cool. Any ideas on getting back to something resembling those days? I love watching cars at the brickyard, but the only thing to tell them apart is the color scheme. As a little boy I can remember listening to the Novi on the radio in South Dakota and dreaming I was there.

4 of the five still exist that i know, Two are full body restored, One is runnable. Two are in bad shape and are bodies only I think. D.O. Did you ever contact him? He keeps a documentation and registeres each car so that someone 100 years from now can lookup the whole history of the cars.
