I have always wondered what mediocrity smelled like, now I know.

On a related note, those who have won know that the smell of success is an ice cold beer.

If you really want to be sick.....

I went to the Dayton Speedway Lives website and under the nut & bolts section he revealed through a connection he has that Patrick will get 300,000 per race no matter where she finishes in Nationwide and Trucks. The ability to make 600,000 if she runs both on the same weekend.

It's about 7/8 down the page.

Why does anyone care what Danica does or doesn't do?

Her publicity/marketing machine is doing it's job; she's won more IRL races than 50% of the active drivers....She's fairly easy on the eyes; if she gets $300K, well, that's what Go Daddy and Jr. want to pay her.

If someone wanted to pay YOU $300K when, IMO, you had a suspect performance resume, do you actually think that anyone would care?

Just remember, she's out there driving 220+ MPH, are you?

IMO, Jr is a bigger failure than Danica' after all the other three HMS cars finished 1/2/3 this year.

Her one win (that is an entirely seperate debate in itself). Her one win puts her in the same catagory are RHR, Airton Dare, and countless other one win people. She has been hyped as the next great American driver for 5 years now at the so called "top" AOWR series. Still if you look at it she has been a complete failure.

If I had a paying sponsor, I would be out there going 220 mph+ also. But then again, do we need another Didier Andre, Jack Miller, E.J. Viso, Hideki Mutoh, or one of the other countless drivers who got more money than their talent level qualified them for?

Two points:

Dale Earnhardt Jr., I know he is a faded version of "The Intimidator" but he did cross the stripe first in 18 Cup races against some very impressive talent. 18 wins in Cup racing may not make you another Smoke or Jimmie but it hardly makes you a failure.

Danica is out there going 220+ MPH. That is impressive. She can go fast. But can she race? She won a Mobil economy run in Japan a couple years back. But a win is a win I suppose. She pushed an Indy car past 200MPH. So has Milka Duno. So has E. J. Viso. So has Robert Dornboos. But these four won't get me to come back to the Indy 500.

I won't go to Indy unless there are drivers in the race whose names I can pronounce without a translater.

I'm sick of politically correct racing, which is what this is. If not for a perfectly timed yellow flag. We wouldn't be talking about a win at all. If not for Helio milking the last 3 laps after pitting with DP (with a wink like speech after finishing 2nd) and who knows maybe Roger Penske owed Tony George a favor and was looking at the bigger picture.

Maybe if she hadn't stormed down to Briscoes pit and got in Milkas face amongst other things, like she's the best thing since sliced bread... I might be a fan of hers. She's not worthy of the money she's getting when there are much better drivers. That's why I call it politically correct racing.... it cheapens the sport. Nascar can have her, we got Sarah. She's been nothing but a blessing to Indycar with her A+ personality. She has a big following, sat on the pole at Kentucky. Nothing annoying about Sarah ever.
