All i know is when racing becomes a business decision, there is no fun in it. Several people are setting here bashing MSCS for there format. Guess what they had 4 more cars than Usac did. Anyone that gets 54 cars to show up is doing something right. Heaven forbid someone have to work for a win. I support any series that forces drivers to race!

There are a lot of articulate, well thought out posts on this thread and some....not so much.
IMO, the bottom line is this: As a fan, do I have a right to be disappointed in not getting to see BC and Levi race? Yes. Do I have a right to question their character or dedication? No. |

Both of the sprint car series I get to watch regularly use both passing points and inverts. From my point of view as a fan they both work out well. But it is a little confusing when the second place in a heat doesn't automatically make the A main. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. But if a car starts on the pole and slips back to second and another car starts in the rear and passes a bunch of cars, then it makes sense to me to let the guys that passes the most cars get the preferential spot.

Like maybe every heat race was won from the front row? Blake Fitzpatrick and Chris Windom could have won the race without ever passing a car. Yep, I like to see guys draw the front row for a heat race and the feature...they really earned that! |

After reading your lengthy reply I realized I’m not wrong. I also realized I’m just as guilty as the clauson’s and jones. Why? Because I knew every time my car would have left the shop I was going to lose money. So I left the car in the shop. My business decision made the car count 1 car less. And I know of 1 other car owner that did the same thing I did. Know that’s 2 cars. I only see the snow ball getting bigger.

Let's just suppose for a few minutes. Suppose you liked racing, suppose you didn't know any of the drivers, what they had under the hood, there were no ******** involved, you just wanted to go see some racing. You're only investment, was what you paid, for your space of pine. Suppose you saw some excellent racing, and there were winners, and losers, but you were entertained. Would you be happy, would you go back? Chances are you would. What I fail to understand, about this whole mess, is why you get so upset, when YOU'RE favorite driver/team whatever, decides that his/her investment, is not worth the risk, that may become a disaster, for them, and their team, the FANS really don't have a dog in this fight, it's economics 101, sure they didn't choose to take that risk, but maybe the sponsor also felt the results wouldn't be favorable either, they, for the most part, are paying the bills for keeping the teams on the road, and on the track. Now, lets suppose NICECAR would decide to use a pill draw, to establish the starting positions, it now becomes a different horse, and a different color, they start 43 cars, so if they had 54 in the pits, it would load up 9, and no one had to get on the track, don't even have to unload. I think this is a matter of the supposed fans, feeling they OWN the drivers, and cars, therefore they came to watch them, and they'd better do what they came to see. I feel like the teams make the decisions, and I know it's difficult sometimes, but if you want to race another day, then you need to pay a little more attention to the odds. 10k is not a lot of money, to some folks, to others, only aa dream, and to some, most of us, if we get tow money, we feel lucky. I just don't see the reason to start this thread, when times are as slow as they are, everyone, except the very rich feel the pinch, and they are watching where every penny goes too, but they are smart enough to not invest in "consumables", like racing. My .02 for now. Bob
