Scora opens engine rules

I live on the eastside of Evansville, so going to Chandler would be easy for me, but I'm wondering how many sprint cars will enter? For $15 admission, I would expect to see enough cars for four heats, a semi, and a feature.

I am wondering why everyone is bashing SCORA. It is just a group of racers trying to provide a different level of racing, at different tracks. If it works great. If it does not, then they give up. But at the very least they can say they tried. (Which is more than most of us can say, my self included.) I know I am not out any thing if they fail. but if they succeed then I have got more tracks to race at, different teams to race against, and new friends to make.
As far as the aluminum motor deal, I know several "working men" that have aluminum motors. I know some that don't and some that have both. I think they are just trying to get cars in a sh***y economy.
If nothing else If you don't want to race for $600. the answer is simple. DON'T! But if you race for the love of racing, and SCORA is close, then go check them out and have some fun.

A expected car count will be posted soon and it's looking real good...

We had thought about running SCORA, but the travel is ridiculous for us, being just east of Cincinnati. Traveling 2-3 hours to Indiana wouldn't be bad, but all of the races in Illinois would be way too tough for us to make.

The travel part for next year is in the top 2 most important changes we are looking at. We would love to have you at the rest of our events.

Here is an idea that you might try. Since Joe Spiker now controls both VCS and Lincoln Park, how about trying to schedule with those two tracks only. It could help car counts in Illinois & Indiana. I am not saying to race weekly but maybe a couple of times a month or so April through September. That would be a 12 race schedule and not a lot of travel and both tracks are very accessable. I hope SCORA can make it because there is a need for the "working man" to be able to race. Start shooting holes in this right now!

I'll only kick this dead horse one more time (unless I change my mind

) but the way I see it, the logic behind this as John3g put it - "Sam had to do what was best to keep this series going" is severely flawed in the fact that the series is not continuing, it is changing to something that looks strangely familiar (MSCS) with a heavily decreased purse structure. Furthermore if the racers didn't support it, why try to keep it going unless there is another motivation ($)? It looks to me like the guys who founded this "series" were looking for a way to be invovled with racing and attempted to base this organization off the premise of helping the little guy yet all the while their motive was making some money for themselves off this thing. In my mind that could be the only reason this was attempted as a travling series vs. the more realistic approach of starting a division that raced at one or two tracks. After all you can't charge a sanctioning fee nor a liscense fee if you are starting a division at a couple of tracks. The sad part is that the idea has merit and having that division at some of these tracks makes sense to me as a place for new entrants into sprint car racing to have an economical stepping stone if you will to get seat time and experience. I believe some open wheel mod guys might even consider moving into such a division but I just don't see why you would ever want to have this as a travling series...
