Patti, I agree. But on the other hand, take Kamp( I don't know I've never been there) if their track prep is the same EVERY week like it is for sprintweek, do you blame the people for not showing up, Good racing or not. Would you go to a track EVERY fri. or Sat. if you have to wear a helmet (rocks), bandana around your face and goggles (dust) just to have a CHANCE at seeing the race. I know I wouldn't. So some of these track owners bring it on themselves. Some of these tracks (to many actually) want to do very little track prep and no PROMOTING. They just want to open the gates, make their money and go home. If their not giving the EFFORT, I'm not giving the MONEY. So they might as well close or sell out, Fans won't be there anyway. (Whats the saying about, if it was EASY).....When is it time for the FANS to say ENOUGH of the dry, rubbered up, slick, one lane ****** racing (it was NEVER like that before) whether its Bloomington IN or a little track in PA......Enough's, Enough.....

If every dirt track in the country had a Jiggs, a Rudisell or a Helfrich and even Miles, dirt track racing would be thriving everywhere.....Thats My Humble Opinion.....

P.S.. there's a track 10 minutes from my house I refuse to support because of track prep and the promotor is a Beepity beep. It used to be the best kept secret in Central Pennsylvania. I'd hate to see it close........BUT.......

Bad deal new clay is carrier back to pits with the cars,sometime look at the ground down there. Tracks are all old and beat to death. Cars all think they need 900 HP that you could not hook up in a clay pit. What is the fix,well most likley not one I think all the people are trying thier best.

Was the midget week feature good? Did the Sheldon Kinser race have two guys come forward from deep in the pack? This is my 17th year at Bloomington so here is my answer again to the question- Is Bloomington always this bad - the answer once again is No - and I will answer it no a thousand times. And to 2 ideas - Bloomington - an original Sprint week track should be dropped? For the love of god get a grip - 1 bad track, and that's it. That's like firing a driver who has a bad night. Everyone misses the set up once in awhile - don't they? As for the notion of "drinking the Miles juice" what's does that mean? I'd like every person on this board who has ever dealt with Mike Miles comment if this is the kind of statement that even matches this man? I don't need to drink juice - I'm not a dumb guy. Mike works hard, has impeccable integrity, is honest in his dealing with the fans and drivers, and tries to improve the track just a bit every year. You know who wishes the track was better last night? Mike Miles. Just an observation. If I drove a long, long way I would have been disappointed too - but here's the rub - It's a dirt track - every race is not an instant classic - some are great, some go south, that's the way it is - there are no guarantees - far more races are mundane than glorious.

I go to Bloomington every Friday night,IMO the track was pretty wore out come feature time. The track went away really quick, unlike last friday were it was the heaviest i can remember seeing and provided some great action.

Whats the fix, really, what is it? Its not TSS with a fleet of tractors and equipment to reprep it before the A rolls off.

Get rid of the DT3 for these events? Who really wins there? That tire is can be debated all night long and at the end of the night its probably still a good idea.

Daylight Saving time....well, Welcome to Indiana. It is what it is.

Get rid of qualifying and pill draw.

Maybe USAC could hire Tommys crew to travel to all the events and prep all tracks the same.

Bloomington Speedway is the main staple in Indiana's Sprint car diet, removing it from sprint week would be a black eye to Indiana sprint car racing. Im sure Mike is fully aware of the situation and I think he will come up with something.

Pine, IMO the four promoters you mentioned are top notch, but I have read and heard complaints about all of them (even Tommy) at one time or another.The point I'm trying to make is this; If we spend too much time complaining, eventually we risk doing more harm (discouraging other fans and yes even discouraging track owners) than good. We'd all love to see a perfect surface and a photo finish at every race, but that's not realistic we all know that. As long as I believe a promoter is trying, really trying, I'm willing to give his track another chance.
My first Indiana race was the Bloomington sprintweek race in 2000. If you remember the feature was handily won by Jay Drake going low and slow. He led every lap except the first one and almost lapped the field. I'm sure there were folks that left complaining. But I left thinking I had just seen the greatest thing ever. I felt like I had my money's worth after hot laps and I was hooked. Pine you and I are similar in at least one respect; going to any race in Indiana requires a lot of time, travel and money. Something I only wish I could do more often.
Hopefully everyone fortunate enough to go tonight will see some great racing at Tri-State.

You are right Pat, I am there every week and it usually is much better and there is no better person or persons than Mike and Judy Miles.

Dude if you dont like it DONT GO!!! I go more Fridays than not to Bloomington and that was the exception rather than the rule, the only time it goes black like that is when Aero comes & by the way its Monroe County. Which shows you arent from around here and dont have any idea what the track is like "more often than not".
