[QUOTE=ShaneMugavin57;82082]Greg, The biggest help I have found is a racer friendly Doctor. He knows where my neck isssues and my recently found fractured foot come from but he does a good job with the paperwork.
QUOTe] I agree with this I have raced for many years and have had no problems so far. I have found that usually if you can find a sports dr they know how to deal with the insurance companies. |

I will paraphrase a quotation attributed to Abe Lincoln: "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt". In your case, I would say, "Better to remain silent and be thought a insensitive jerk than to use your keyboard to remove all doubt".

It blows me away that people don't see a huge lapse in judgement in Tim racing without insurance! Then for some of the IOW faithful's to call me all kinds of names because I don't think people should be bailed out for bonehead moves, which is knowingly racing without insurance, just makes me shake my head at some of the people on here. Again, sorry he got hurt, but what was he thinking?

We do see a racer needing help. The same as you if your injuries surpassed your insurance or whatever. Chuck

WOW, this is the first I have learned of Tim's accident; this is indeed sad news. My thoughts and prayers are with Tim and his family. The McCreadie family is one of the finest families in the central N. Y. racing community. Both Tim and his Dad, Bob have made a living from the sport they have been extremely dedicated to. No one has the right to bash Tim for the choices he has made especially now. We as racers need to do whatever we can to help Tim through this difficult time and pray for a full and speedy recovery for him.
Philip, thank you for being Tim's friend. You are also in my prayers. D. O. thank you for professionally reporting the details of Tim's accident. Steve, those before me have put you in your place. The only thing I have to add is talk to Davey Hamilton about the struggle he had to secure medical insurance so he could return to racing after his Texas crash. It is not easy for a racer to secure medical insurance. I am proud to say being a girl from central N. Y. I have had the pleasure of watching both Tim and his Dad race on numerous occasions and I hope Tim gets to continue to follow his dream for years to come. God Bless Tim, Patti |

I wonder if the response would be different if this were a "hero" of the sprint car world and not someone who's claim to fame was "mudcabs" or whatever they call them on this board. Just a thought.
On the other hand, he won $25,000 and $40,000 dollar races last year(among many other smaller paying). Im not gonna argue about how much of it he got, but lets be clear, he could afford the insurance. Even though it does cost more with some policys, they will medically insure racers, and its nothing that even bottom of the barrel local racers can't afford. |

To start off with I want to wish Tim a speedy and full recovery!!! This is not the time for all the coments on what he should have done, it is to late to do anything about should haves. What we need to do is pull together to help a racer who is in need. What we can do is learn from this.

Not trying to complicate this debate, but I was just wondering if Tim was wearing a HANS device? What about other restraints like good belts properly secured? A properly fitted seat?
Because if they let Olson out there in a open face helmet and T-shirt last year, how stringent are the rules and the enforcement of them? Discuss. |

If you read your posts which I quoted a couple hours ago, you might realize the YOU called Tim "idiot". Is that not name-calling, or do you get a special pass when you choose to pontificate? |
