Tim's good friend, James Spink, reports from the hospital: Tim has
been fitted for a back and neck brace. They are all anxious to hear
what Dr. Trammell has to say once he gets a chance to talk to the
doctors in Tulsa and review the MRI showing the fractured T3
vertebrate and bone fragments.

Tim makes his living as a short-track racer and does not have health
insurance. The process to setup a trust to help a racer in need is
quite involved and takes a while. In the meantime, Kevin Miller,
Jason Smith and James Spink at USAC, with the appreciation and support
of Chili Bowl promoters Emmett Hahn and Lanny Edwards, have offered to
help manage the many offers from the racing community to assist with
Tim's medical and recovery expenses. Donations should be made payable
to:

USAC c/o Tim McCreadie Support Fund
USAC
4910 West 16th Street
Speedway, Indiana 46224

I do not know what arrangements, if any, are in place for fans wishing
to contribute in person while attending the Chili Bowl. Will advise
if I find out.

Thanks to everyone for their well-wishes and willingness to spread the
word.

I'm not ripping on Tim here i'm just asking a question. How can you be a "short track racer" and not have any type of health insurance on your own?

For most that race for a living it is hard enough to pay your bills let alone have insurance. I know the feeling it was not till I quit racing did I get insurance and sure enough now that I have it I have yet to use it but when I didn't have it I needed it a few times! Crazy how thing work out..

Hope Tim gets well soon!!

There should have been insurance included with his pit pass. But that is usually so limited that he likely used it up as soon as they got to the emergency room doors.

The tracks do have insurance. I know from experience about 10 or 12 years ago I got hurt at a track back home and it took months to get the insurance money from the track we were at.

I certainly hopes he makes a full recovery, but I can't fathom why he would even consider racing without insurance. Your next health insurance payment you make, complaining about the rates, remember it's not just the flunkie getting in a car and causing a wreck with no insurance, it's this idiot also.

Why donate? We will be paying his bill anyway. This is ridiculous. He knew darn well he wasn't covered when strapped into the car. Why should anyone pay a red cent for this besides himself? 100% irresponsibility on his end, period.
