That was too bad for Jon. He had been running solidly in that top five group the whole race - probably just biding his time and saving his tire a bit. Early it looked like Kaeding and then Jones would run off with it. Then right at lap 50, Darland just TOOK OFF. He blew by Jones and extended the lead to a full straight in just a couple of laps. A series of late yellows gave Jones a couple of shots at Darland and finally Jones was able to force Darland out of his preferred low line entering T1 to make the sliding pass.
