Story about Denny&Danica (a song)
This stuff is really rich. Perfect camera placement perfect mike placement. Where did they hide hide the teleprompters?
If you want a crowd in the grand stands promoters this is what you have to do. Instead we discourage such responses from the competitors and try to keep these rivalries a secret. It is all about putting on a good show. Open wheel racers are just a little too dry and self involved with their sport. Thus to the casual fan it is boring. I remember going to the first Brickyard 400. Beside the ear splitting noise coming out of them things. I had to go to the "John" and get toilet paper to stuff in my ears. Those NASCAR fans never set down for the entire race. That stood out as kind of odd to a died in the wool Open Wheel Fan.:10: Our racing is definitely much more exciting than Taxi Cabs on big old boring race tracks but we as enthusiast do a poor job of conveying it.:) http://www.nascar.com/en_us/news-med...rontation.html Think this little performance did not sell a lot of tickets?:39: I can't wait to see what Danica does for payback, bet she does it right on front of a camera.;) Honest Dad himself:6::6: |
Thought it was absolutely hysterical when Denny said "Danica, I can't help that you are loose".

Re: Story about Denny&Danica (a song)
Yeh
Most racers would call that not being on top of your race car>>>Da:5: The one I liked the most is when a then young Jeff Gordon did the same thing to Dale E. Somehow the camera was right there and it showed Jeff putting his right front up to the left corner of Dale's car (never touching him) and Dale's car just lifting up sliding over to the wall and then ricocheting across the race track. That act couldn't have been scripted any better if Hollywood had produced it on a back lot. The "Intimidator" being intimidated by a young kid. That is good stuff and keeps them coming back for more. What we enjoy and respect in racing doesn't excite most people. Why does a track sell out for a figure 8 race and can't even make enough at the front gate to pay the purse on a major non wing sprint race. If you see something is working and what you are doing is not don't curse that idea copy it. Imitation is the sincirest form of flattery. Let's Flatter them Taxi Cab Guys. Right now we are simply a driver development program for them. Anybody that can controll a 1200 pound 900 horsepower beast should be able to follow a script and make some serious bucks. That sure wasn't meant to be a dig at NASCAR. If you build a race track they will come right?. Racers are racing for less than they raced for 10 years ago. If you have a race the crowd will fill the grand stands and the purse will be 10 times what it was in 1965 is that right (If the purse had kept up with inflation it would have to be at least that much.) Open Wheel Crowds are dying off, no driver in his right mind aspires to race at Indy. We don't have a problem.:deadhorse::10: What the heck are them guys with wings over their heads doing right>>> that allow them to run for a decent purse>>charge big ticket prices >>>and fill the grand stands?? Let's see this is a chick with an average finish of about 34th. Who claims every race that she is still getting use to the tracks and thinks she is improving. Arguing with a dude who is in and around the top 10 every week. Danica shut up! You could not drive a tricycle,

Flatout......I'm waiting for the day the announcers say "Stenhouse is in the back of Danica.... And it's lifting her off the ground!" Lol😂.... Hysterical post, I'm not sure everyone got the pun!!

The guys do this to one another all the time and no harm no foul looks like old "Smoke" would step in and help her out a little. He has a lot invested on her driving talents. I guess I will have to watch the race this year. It should be "Exciting"!!:D Honest Dad himself:6::6: |
Danica has improved since his first start in NASCAR. Is she setting the NASCAR world on fire no but, did any of you really think she was going to. At least she is out there and making NASCAR money and isn't that really what their in business for. NASCAR is big business its not your local show where there is no money to be made. I think what I find more interesting is how most in the dirt world hates NASCAR but yet they still watch it. I just never understood that. Then you have some who say I didn't watch it but, yet you know they did because, they know to much about the race for them not to watch it so, today watch something else and then you won't have to waste your breath complaining about the NASCAR race you hate so much.

I agree, smaller tracks no more then a mile in length would make for better racing.

Yeah no fireworks today but, yes it takes a little skill to drive 3 wide at 200 mph. I just wish they would have a format like out local dirt tracks. Heat races, b-main and then the a- main with about 50 laps.

She is there because go daddy is paying smoke for her to be there . With out that she is on her best day average. NASCAR help make this deal to get more women interested

Re: Story about Denny&Danica (a song)
Every year I test the NASCAR waters by watching the 500 to see if I care to invest my time into following the rest of the year. My conclusion after this one: NASCAR has put a production element as a priority over a quality program. Driving talent and general Racing 101 has taken a backseat to "Its what the fans want".
Flagmen should NEVER wear helmets. Anything to impede the vision of the man with the control of the flags and lights (Although I know they hit the switches up in the tower) is a flatout dumb idea. Take the flagstand down and eliminate the job at that point. The group qualifying needs to go. Or at least a limit of cars on track at a given time in a give session. Practice, etc. I did some math after the 'big one' in practice. Of the 326 Chili Bowl entries, 61 of those attributed to the Flip Count. For sake of argument, lets assume they all were junked. That makes 18% of the total entries that were retired from the event due to damage. Take that same number (18%) and apply it to the 49 entries to the Daytona 500... Gives you 9 cars. 9 in the whole event. I think they wadded up 11 in the Shootout, another 8 in group qualifying, 4 or so in practice. "Top Tier" racing talent doesn't wad up that many cars by their own mistakes. Dad, I agree with your point as for the 'rivalry' concerned. That was definitely entertaining, and kept folks engaged. Talking points around my workplace at least. I think we need more rivalries in all forms. Limit it at the point of bloodshed and broken bones, but middle fingers, dirty sliders, cussfests... We had a rule at my home track: Fight in the pits, get arrested. Fight on my front stretch, get a hundred bucks. If the fans want to see that over racing, then we can appease those folks, while possibly hooking them with some killer racing in the meantime. I'll probably give Atlanta a chance if its not iced out. But if the WWE tactics continue to prevail over quality racing, they'll lose me. But I will tip my hat to the 200 MPH 3 wide parade 8 rows deep. That was impressive to say the least. Not the coolest thing ive ever seen on a racetrack, but for the NASCAR rookie fan watching to see what Danica was gonna do to Denny, maybe enough to have em tune in for the race next week. |
