Oh you know we'll be there! Looks like we're already at 20+ cars with ILSS cars and a couple confirmed WI/IN drivers.

Don't knock chains until you try them "OK". Some of the most creative race car minds in the business at one time or another have used chain drive to their advantage. The "Indy 500" was once won by a chain drive car. Ralph Potter built a chain drive "VW" powered midget and modeled after one of his legendary Quarter midgets that was enough to make USAC come up with a rule to ban them from racing. Ron Ambrose had a chain drive "TQ" that dominated the UMRA to a point that they saw fit to ban them also.

Seems to me like you you might be experiencing a "sour grape attitude" towards chains because you have not been allowed to implement such a brilliant drive system in any of your race cars.:D;):5:

When we ran at wilmot saturday the count seemed to be fairly good for 5-10 of them to be coming down.

thunderracing91 9/10/13 2:42 PM

There is a $50 entry fee to enter? That include driver pit pass or $50 plus pit passes?

Thanks!

Well it looks like this race is now cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. I personally want to thank everyone for there interest.

midwest84 9/10/13 10:18 PM

Do you have any idea what kind of unforeseen circumstances led to the cancellation of this event?

It's cancelled. No make up. That wraps up the season for ILSS. Thanks to everyone from out of state that planned on coming. It was definitely going to be a great event for lightning sprints.

This race has only ran one time of the three it has been promoted. Racers plan there yearly schedules out sometimes at the beginning of the year. Most lightning sprint racers don't have the budget to go to all the big races they want to. I wish in the future only events that are solidly in the books will be promoted. Stuff like this hurts other big races thru out the year.

SPIKER RACING PRODUCTS 9/11/13 10:04 AM

I know this is 2 years in a row that we were going. This race was the reason for not going to MO. a few weeks ago.

El1teBr33ze 9/11/13 11:06 AM

Re: Lightning Sprint Nationals Race at Peoria Speedway Sept.

Rob - I'm sorry to hear that.

Mark - I agree. Don't promote a race unless you know it's happening. Last year was kind of a bad deal because of weather. Not sure on the details of this cancellation, but I do know that weather was not a factor.

I know all of us drivers in ILSS were looking forward to this race at Peoria Speedway which has been an awesome track all year long. Sucks it had to happen, but it happened. No going back.

Josh: Why not tell the reason for the cancellation????? You're the Marketing Director and I would think you would have more information than "reasons beyond your control". Why a week before the race is it behind cancelled. Jim Mahan

Re: Lightning Sprint Nationals Race at Peoria Speedway Sept.

Peoria Speedway had nothing to do with this decision. I, personally, do not know the reasoning. I said it's not the weather because the weather outlook is great. If you had any questions you can contact Roger Sollenberger, the promoter of the race.

Everyone come to Waynesfield motorsports park on Sep. 29th. They are having a big lighting Sprint race. Come and see how you measure up to Ohio Lighting Sprints.

Well for those looking for a big race to go to, don't forget MMSA is having the Allen Ruppenthal Memorial race at Brownstown paying $500 to win this Saturday.

Bradleyracing86 9/11/13 6:11 PM

Correct.... "Engler Machine and Tool" bring you the 3rd annual Alan Rupenthal Memorial Race at Brownstown Speedway this Saturday night.
With the economy the way it is currently these races and the races across MO last week suffered with low car counts, it's important that we support these tracks and series to insure ourselves a place to race.. I'd be extreamly greatful if some of you guys would come over and race with us Sat night...

The annual Fun Fest is going to be held in October at Brownstown Speedway. This is a sure deal. Brownstown is one of the best Mini Sprint tracks out there period. It will be THREE DAYS OF RACING. If the entry fee for the last race was raised to $50.00 and 30+ cars showed up and with just a little sponsor help we could have a $1500.00 to win race no problem. Brownstown has enough we could start 30 cars in the main and run 30 laps and make it one he11 of a race. Terry would probably come on board and make it a special event inside of a special event.

Those 3 mornings and afternoon's also make it possible to visit and talk with other teams in a more layed back atmosphere.

They would need to change the layout of funfest minorly but that would be worth it... I bet if we all got together we could shake the branches and get some sponsors...

Dads Muffler for instance... ;)

A big purse you can get what you want. We keep getting hung up on this wingless deal. But what if a guy come in with no wingless experience and throws it in the turn to get under you and finds out that his wing ain't there to lean on?

It is a known fact "Big Purses" bring cars to the race, winged or wingless.

Might be a good idea.

I think since it is the "Allen Ruppenthal Memorial" it would be more than appropriate in the spirit of old times for us to run maybe just a small shot of "nitrous" in his honor.

Mensendiek's Auction Service and Real Estate will give a $200.00 Bonus to the driver who can break the old track record and ends up with a New Track Record for Mini sprints during qualifying.

Providing that the Race Director Bill May Okays this.

The old Track Record was set last year by Aaron Farney with a time of 13.870

Re: Lightning Sprint Nationals Race at Peoria Speedway Sept.

Mike, Thanks, It's OK, I will post it on the MMSA website.
