Terre Haute Rain out

Has usac canceled yet? if not who's going? leaving 11am wed. to start the 500 weekend. :23:

Re: Terre Haute

They have not cancelled as of your post. I know there is supposed to be rain overnight so time will tell. I would check back here tomorrow or their website at www.terrehauteactiontrack.net

ISF 5/21/13 5:39 PM

Re: Terre Haute

50% chance of rain overnight, 90% chance of rain Wednesday, 40% chance of rain Wednesday night. Doesn't look good. We're leaving around noon from North Central Illinois, if they have to cancel I hope they do it early.

Can somebody close to the track update us long distance travelers early in the morning on the weather. Thanks Chuck

If Walls or someone else doesn't, I will try when I get up.

This is a local radar that is live.

Re: Terre Haute

I was only joking at first but now it does look as if the event maybe in trouble. And yes usac did cancel a race on a perfectly good night on pole day. car count is what i heard from a reliable source. Mr Miller?...I'm starting to agree more and more with ossuks about usac. I have supported them most of my life and its looking like they need a big change somewhere.

Looks like those of us here in "The Hut" have dodged one more of Mother Nature's bullets. It went South of us. It's not over yet, but every one that misses us is one less we've got to worry about.:8:

I can't wait to see sprint cars screaming around the Terre Haute Action Track tomorrow!!!!

Jerry

Don't celebrate yet, another round might come through around noon tomorrow. Who knows though as rain has been predicted all week and it hasn't rained during the day at all.

I'm looking forward to the "Hulman Classic".
Let's hope the weather improves. Tony Hulman
was a class act in his time. Have always had a
huge amount of respect for him!
Best Regards,

If the grounds are dry like they say and the system that looks to be rolling through about noon isn't too bad the tail end looks very promising. Hope they give it a shot and not cancel at the first sight of rain

Re: Terre Haute

I kinda thought USAC would cancel on monday at the mere mention of rain and save me the trouble of even thinking about going.............................. Might as well Cancel Thursday as well, Heard it might rain within 300 miles of the fairgrounds.

cmakin 5/22/13 5:21 AM

Re: Terre Haute

Just a thought. Should TH rain out today, the Friday forecast is for no rain. Now, I seem to recall something about the Hoosier 100 being moved to Thursday to allow a potential Friday rain date. Would USAC postpone moving TH to Friday until the race at the Fairgrounds is run? I also note that the Thursday forecast looks pretty favorable, too.

Same here. Flying out of MSP Wed and going to Terre Haute if the rain stays away.

Re: Terre Haute

All this negative talk is why promoters cancel early. People get on here and moan about the weather, and talk each other out of going before it even rains. The promoter runs and everyone stays home and they lose their a$$. I am going to Terre Haute. Now work has to cooperate so I don't have to rush.

I look at it the same way you do. Sure, I look at the weather to get a ballpark look (which really is worthless most times), but I don't really get too up or down about it. It is tuff to guess for those coming long distance so I understand that. Little easier for fans within a couple hours to make a last minute decision.

Here's what I don't get with fans and weather. People do realize that it only has not NOT rain on one half mile circle in the whole state, right? So they say rain, doesn't mean it will be at the exact location... Might, might not.

I heard one Indy weatherman say once he puts a chance of rain in the forecast if it's within 200 miles of Indy. I could do that.

Re: Terre Haute

Bookin it from school as soon as the final bell rings. This will be my first "Hulman" but not my first time at Terre Haute. With only 4 sprint car races there all year, I wouldn't want to miss any of them. According to video, last year's race was a barn burner.

If there were, trust me, it would be all over this board.

Al Pierce 5/22/13 9:53 AM

Here's the current status. I'm 15 miles from the track. Rained some last night but not much. Current radar shows all rain north
& moving that direction. Slight chance in forecast. Best that can be said. Everything else is someones guess or conjecture. I'm going to the golf course then to THAT!!! Like everything else in life. No guarantees so let's go racin'.

I just love these key broad weathermen always talking bout theres a 40% chance of rain. guess they don;t think bout that meaning thats a 60% chance of dry weather :16 :6:Heading north in bout a hour to the races

racefan20 5/22/13 3:16 PM

Re: Terre Haute

Just talked to Jerry Shaw, had a pretty hard rain at the track looks like it is moving away. Keep your fingers crossed that Sargent and the O'Connors can get the track back into racing condition.

JSBH03 5/22/13 3:17 PM

Right now it's a 100% chance because it is pouring

Seems like my Keyboard report was 100 percent accurate at 1:45 there Jim George.

That being said, I hope they get it in, Because like IRP many fans and teams were already there or on the way.

SP Motorsports 5/22/13 3:37 PM
