I actually inquired if they were moving the date, after hearing rumors they would be moving the date, not to conflict. The decision they made to run was their business decision, not mine, and none of my business really.I just chose to go there instead,as I love the racing there. I dont always go with the "popular opinion" of when and where to go racing. If you read the posts the other day on the Gold Crown,I did in fact make it to the Gold Crown for the Final. And for someone that goes on and on and on about the Gold Crown,I thought it was rather funny to see you leaving before the checkered flag was thrown!! Good thing there wasnt a pileup after they threw the green for the final time,or it would have been difficult to fabricate the finish to your story. So yeah I'd say its safe that we will not agree on things |

I hope this works out. It will be interesting, it will take a lot of work, but it could work out good.

Re: POWRi promoting Angel Park
Didn't the old saying go something like...."if you want to make sure you lose your azz promoting races, schedule a Midget show"?
Congratulations and best wishes to Angel Park and the new promotion group. Hope the glory days of Sunday night racing can successfully return. I love that place and hope to get back up there soon. :32: |
Re: POWRi promoting Angel Park
I feel like this is a great move. I think POWRi, BMARA, & Angell Park will all benefit from the new promotion. I believe this could be the start of USAC getting pushed out. I would venture to say that they wont have any races at Angell with their sanction next year.

Re: POWRi promoting Angel Park
First off, I love Angell Park. I hope that they race midgets there on Sunday night's till the end of time. I only spent one year in Southern Wisconsin, but this is where my love for midgets blossomed. However, I am way suspect of the entire deal. Does everybody remember how the message boards blew up when the track and Badger got into a pissing match several years ago? Does everybody remember how Badger did everything it could to hurt Angell Park? Does everyone remember the low car counts at Angell Park and at the Badger shows for this time? Does everbody remember when Wilke stepped into the promoter role at Angell Park that it was seen as the savior for both Badger and Angell Park? What will POWRi be able to offer other that the previous group could not? It is well known that POWRi struggles outside the shadow of the Arches, are they going to co-sanction every Sunday night race? Doesn't this conflict with the "working mans" midget club? Are they going to quit thier other Sunday shows? (US36 money week show)
Seems to be more questions than answers. |
Re: POWRi promoting Angel Park
I wonder if the TV cameras will tape any of the races from APS?

I wonder if Lucas Oil will become a sponsor of the Badger Midget club.

Felker will drive a Mopar-powered Brekka prepared by CJR, headed by team principal Colin Bell. It will be the first time Felker has traveled out of the United States. “I’m excited,” he said. “It will be a cool experience. I definitely want to go and represent POWRi well. Felker had a breakthrough season in winning his first POWRi National Midget title. He won his first feature at Peoria (Ill.) Speedway on May 19 and his second at Wilmot (Wis.) Raceway on July 14. Felker had a total of six top-fives and 15 top-10s and started the feature in all 29 events in 2012. The event at Archerfield will also be the first under POWRi sanction for the Australian Speedcar Super Series. Alex Bright, a 21-year-old from Collegeville, Pa., is also going to race at Archerfield and Charlton. (Oct. 29, 2012)—The POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series has entered into a multi-year agreement to sanction the POWRi Lucas Oil Australian Speedcar Super Series and the POWRi Lucas Oil New Zealand Midget Super Series. The three series will operate under the same technical regulations and procedures. It establishes a platform for a Midget World Championship, which POWRi expects to organize for the 2013-14 season. “Our goal is to grow midget racing internationally and increase its prestige, purses and participation across the board,” POWRi co-founder Kenny Brown said. “With our opposite seasons, we can race year round. We hope to foster increased international competition, with American drivers going to New Zealand and Australia and New Zealand and Australian drivers coming to America. We have already seen some of that the past two years with Michael Pickens and Nathan Smee racing in POWRi and other premier events. “We are working on a plan for a series of races in Australia, New Zealand and the United States that would form a world championship series with the winner becoming world champion.” Kiwi Pickens, a five-time New Zealand champion, won four straight POWRi National Midget features over the past two years and also has wins in 2005 and 2007. Australian Smee finished seventh at Springfield, Mo., in one of his two events this season. New Zealand’s Leyton Kendall drove in four POWRi National events in 2011 with a top finish of 14th in the feature at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill. Reigning POWRi National Midget champion Andrew Felker of Carl Junction, Mo.,drove in the opening two events of the POWRi Australian championship. He was a 17th/DNF in the feature at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway in Brisbane on Oct. 20 and 15th/DNF at Charlton Raceway in Toowoomba on Oct. 27. Alex Bright of Collegeville, Pa., won at Charlton and was 18th/DNF at Archerfield Speedway. He was the only other American in the field. For further information, visit www.POWRi.com. |
