I see it as good news for Angell Park and Badger both. They have been on life support for awhile now.

Not at all. Unlike your idea for Illinois Midget Week, this move by POWRI is an original idea. One in which they're taking risk. It will add something to the scene, instead of trying to steal the thunder of someone else's event in order for your idea to work. Plus, it guarantees the near term future of that track. Be honest now, if you would have asked Kenny Brown to run an Illinois Midget Week the week immediately after Indiana Midget Week, what do you think the chances of getting him to agree to that idea would have been? I say slim to none. Midget racing has a smaller fan base than sprint racing does and the last thing anybody needs to start their series is a bunch of race fans that are still financially tapped out from chasing races at another series the week before. But, you didn't think the Gold Crown finale was worth going to, so I don't think you and I are going to see eye to eye on racing matters anyway.

I'd be happy to schedule a midget week event in Illinois the week after Indiana Midget Week.... if we didn't have all of our local race fans that make up the bulk of the grandstands traveling to Highland, Brownstown(IL), Granite City and Fairbury that week paying good money to watch late Models race for $5,000-$10,000 to win. Same goes for the week after that, and the week after that, and the 3 weeks after that.

What makes you think POWRi was so instrumental in scheduling of the Midget Week, rather than the tracks he talked to that actually will be promoting it? The purse is the same whether 200 or 2000 fans or 10 or 100 cars show up. The tracks have more at stake in the date than the series.

(I know... there's a thread for this elsewhere)

Sure I know all about midget racing Jerry, remember I go to a lot more midget races than you do. I think both midget weeks will be fine. Some fans will do Illinois Midget week, some will do Indiana midget week, and some like myself will do both. I see it as similar to Sprint week. Some people do just the first week, some do the 2nd week, and some of us do them all.

I wasnt trying to steal anyones "Thunder" I was just posting something that was newsworthy in my opinion

And I dont think its any secret that I love the midgets at Belle-Clair,and in fact,if you go back thru my posts, I said I was going to Belle-Clair irregardless of a conflict with the Gold Crown. I actually inquired if they were moving the date, after hearing rumors they would be moving the date, not to conflict. The decision they made to run was their business decision, not mine, and none of my business really.I just chose to go there instead,as I love the racing there. I dont always go with the "popular opinion" of when and where to go racing.

If you read the posts the other day on the Gold Crown,I did in fact make it to the Gold Crown for the Final. And for someone that goes on and on and on about the Gold Crown,I thought it was rather funny to see you leaving before the checkered flag was thrown!! Good thing there wasnt a pileup after they threw the green for the final time,or it would have been difficult to fabricate the finish to your story.

So yeah I'd say its safe that we will not agree on things

It's no different here in Indiana, Kevin. The tracks that put on Indiana Midget Week take a tremendous financial risk. Especially the ones that stepped up and did the first couple of IMWs. That took faith. I just don't want to see this thing get watered down and make track owners question whether or not it's worth it. That's why when I see one series pop up and try to piggyback off of an established one in order to get going, it causes me to be concerned. What's the matter with them taking the same risk the Indiana tracks did to get their deal going? It wouldn't even be as big of a risk. Illinois is an established midget state. Midget racing was on life support over here, when these Indiana tracks started their deal.

I hope this works out. It will be interesting, it will take a lot of work, but it could work out good.

Didn't the old saying go something like...."if you want to make sure you lose your azz promoting races, schedule a Midget show"?
Congratulations and best wishes to Angel Park and the new promotion group. Hope the glory days of Sunday night racing can successfully return. I love that place and hope to get back up there soon.
