Bloomington No Modifieds?
Just looking at the web site for Bloomington Speedway and noticed they had rules for hornets but not modifieds. Does this mean they are changing the support classes for next season?

Re: Bloomington No Modifieds?
At the banquet Mike Miles said he was running his same three divisions next year, and also a limited Hornet schedule. He said he had thought about the Hornets for a while, and decided it was time to introduce them.

Re: Bloomington No Modifieds?
Well I would much rather watch modifieds then Hornets that's for sure, but when you don't get a full field (less then 20) of cars on a normal basis I can understand the change, for the business side of things, As the payout for the hornets will probably be peanuts compared to the mods. However, I know this will probably affect me going to the track as I have no desire to watch the hornets, always loved the mods. Guess its Gas City for me on friday nights.

OK for someone not from the area.....what are Hornets?

Re: Bloomington No Modifieds?
Hornets are 4 cylinder cars like Escorts or Neons.....

Re: Bloomington No Modifieds?
Now, are we really going to let the once in a while occurrence of Hornets keep us from coming to Bloomington Speedway? 99 percent of you on here go just to watch the Sprints, once the Sprints are over, leave. Simple enough

Re: Bloomington No Modifieds?
Will the hornets be added to the three existing classes, or will it replace a class on occasion through out the season? Basically I guess I am not sure if on the nights that hornets run, will there be 3 or 4 classes running. I agree with Chris about staying for all the races. Putnamville runs 4 classes and there have been times I have left after the sprint race, and times I stayed for all the races that evening. It just depends on how I feel and how early I have to get up the next morning following the drive home. Having the hornets run is not going to keep me from watching the sprints at Bloomington.

Re: Bloomington No Modifieds?
That is what makes this country great.
If you don't want to see Hornets run on Friday nights next summer, then you don't have to.:6: |
Re: Bloomington No Modifieds?
I read in their rules that Racievers are manditory. I am assuming that will be the case for all divisions. Hope so anyway.

Re: Bloomington No Modifieds?
Yeahhhhhh....something exciting that dont care what the track is like

Re: Bloomington No Modifieds?
I was like the other poster I do go to watch the racing not just the sprint cars. Yes I do go for the sprint cars but I also like to watch the modifieds. Been to some hornet racing in the past and to tell you the truth I rather watch street stocks. I know I will be getting beat up for that comment but its true.

Re: Bloomington No Modifieds?
JMHO, but the way I read it, there will be 4 divisions for 2011, rules for Sprints, Modifieds and Stocks will stay the same, but the Hornet rules are now posted, I think that's the way it will be, I'm sure Mike just wanted to get the Hornet rules out, so people would know what they will be. I'd say by the time he gets the schedule, for 2011 posted, all will be in order. Bob :8:

Don't they use ump rules, maybe they don't have spec track rules for them?

Re: Bloomington No Modifieds?
He had to do something to help the back gate. There were a bunch of nights that there were one(sprints) or maybe 2 B mains especially the 2nd half of the year.

Some can't see the forrest for the trees. More tracks have been adding additional classes in order to keep the doors open. Promoters aren't exactly making millions and the bottom line is either add classes, up ticket and pit pass prices or go out of business. A number of posters on here I guess still don't see the economic situation of the present. If adding classes keeps a track open, I can live with it. I have found that many times the "undercard" provides equal or better entertainment than the "headliner". |
Re: Bloomington No Modifieds?
Not to mention the payout for the Hornets is low and cost effective. Pays 100 to 125 to win

Re: Bloomington No Modifieds?
I made my comments based on the notion that Hornets will be replacing the Modifieds. If they add them as another class no problem I'm sure I will still go, however if they replace the mods completely and just run sprints, super stocks and hornets you can count me out. I like super stocks and bomber as they normally put on a really good show, however I have never seen a good show from hornets and I have seen many hornet shows. I would rather drive the 1 hour and 15 mins to Gas City where I enjoy all the classes then make the 2 hour drive on a Friday to Bloomington for only 2 classes I enjoy. I prefer the seating and food at Bloomington over Gas City, which was why I would normally go there on a Friday over Gas City but if they get rid of mods completely Gas City will see alot more or me. bash away
