Agree with jim on 2 points, it's dumb to have it during the fair, and we are getting old, so take a young person with you and see if you can get the racing bug to bite em like it did us. I got me a 3 year old grandson who I'll be dragging to the track in a couple years.

Re: Terre Haute camping

A lot of People are parking the campers at LPS and driving or catching a ride over to THAT . Also if you get there before 4 pm no charge for parking after 4 it's $ 5.00 .

It's worth it and I wish they had it that way, every year. It probably won't be that way every year, though. Just whenever they happen to get scheduled on the same week. Which I'm sure is coincidental. There are a lot more people locally aware that there is a race going on, because the grandstand events get mentioned on all the promos that hit the airwaves and print, leading up to the fair. And it will draw a few more people into the infield, because they are running ads saying that you can get your kids in for free there, as long as they're under 10. And you expose new fans to racing that's of this high of quality, you're going to hook a few.

I know this has been addressed on here before but my memory isn't what it once was. Can you carry in a cooler if it isn't beer.

This is copied and pasted from the track website:

Coolers are okay as well as beer. No glass.

:7: I hate to say it, but I got on the Vigo County Fair site, and checked future dates, and unless USAC changes the dates they usually do sprint week, you are gonna get stuck with the fair for the next 5 or 6 years. That sucks.

I like the festive atmosphere of the fair. As long as it's dry that's the main thing.

I'm with you all the way, Jerry! The fair creates a bit more of a festive atmosphere and gives the racing event a bit more charm. Other than the $5.00 parking charge there is no particular down side and like you say Jerry, there is the possibility of gaining a new fan or two. I know it adds to the atmosphere out in Kansas at The Belleville Nationals and I can't see it would be any different at Terre Haute.

Checking or not, for safety sake, No Glass, there is a reason for that rule.
