Re: Eldora announcer????
Talked to Rob Klepper on facebook he said eldora would not pay for the USAC announcer so he said see ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ps I agree Rob is the best at keeping the fans informed. :10::20: |
The value of a well informed announcer goes far beyond the cost. It is unfortunate that the staff at Eldora opted to cut that corner. Not only does it detract from the best possible fan experience, it puts the track announcer in a hole when it comes to info, background, and the like. A track like Eldora, with so many travelling groups coming throughout the summer, the track announcer has a really big job to try keep the fans completely informed. Most series that retain an announcer do so because that way everything is said and done the same every time, for every team. And to make sure series sponsors get their plugs as well! Talk about crucial!!!
I heard Eldora's announcer didn't have a good night. The first show of the year it always tricky. Be a new gig or the fifth year, things happen, come up, don't happen, or, like Friday, the wheels totally come off. Please, give the guy a little break this time. It takes a bit to get completely comfortable working a show. A high profile place like Eldora, for USAC, when fans are expecting Rob Klepper? I hope I don't have to be that guy! Re: Eldora announcer????
Dustin Jarrett is from a late model background.I think it is going to take while for him to get up to speed on the sprint cars.

Re: Eldora announcer????
I wasn't at Eldora. I wear earplugs or listen to a scanner at the race track. I also haven't sat in the stands in quite a few years.
I do know Dustin Jarrett was pretty excited about it. Here is a video of him and Larry Boos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rfrrRZXll4 I would think the track surface is more important then the "Big E" broadcasting network or anything else. I wouldn't pile on just cause the track sucked. I never knew that the track had to pay the visiting sanctioning body announcer. I would have thought that the series had brought one had they deemed it important. I can also understand how a 3 hour delay, with nothing isn't right. But for his first day on the job, I would assume he had a "*** moment" about the whole night as well. |

Re: Eldora announcer????
No drivers is bad enough, but hours of no explaination for delay, sorrys etc. is inexcusable. Friday night was the most DISGRACEFUL performance in my 50 + years of being an open wheel race fan.
Meanwhile, the silence is deafening from management. |
