If you are going down this road, then why not do the French-Grimes 305 deal? Just a thought.

This could be interesting to see what happens here let them run the steel block 410's if they want to but run the 14 inch right rear tire and use the DT-3 or the same in american racer or better yet use both.If you want to limit the size of the injector intake also this should get the series started off the right way.

run a small intake gasket like the ascs used to do ,doesnt matter what heads /injector you have ,if you cant get the air to it, it aint gonna horsepower plain and simple.

up here in michigan with mts most everone runs iron blocks. we have 305,360, 383 and 410 running with us. i think the iron 360's have won more races with us than any other engine. i dont think we have any aluminum engines that run with us every night. they do have a few ex mod guys that still run a carb and stock style power steering pump and they run up front most of the time. we also have to run a dt3 or ascs medium tire. if an iron series would start and was within a few hours drive id go.

Just stick with the cast iron block.... If you build a 410 you can run it around here locally when the series is dormant and you can make the show. Trying to start something with spec stuff where you are limited to one venue will discourage people. The guy at Red Hill wanted to do that with a Jasper spec engine a few years ago and it was too hard to sell . Everything from bombers to modifeds run a 400 based powerplant. That makes parts readily available. If a guy gets too dominant ... start him on the tail ... Traffic is the great equalizer .

do like they do at pville in the bomber class. Win this week start on the back next week or the next time you are there.keeps the same guy from winning every week.it has been won a cpuple of times from the back.

I thank everyone for their input and it is all of value. This will not be a spec anything Series. This is Indiana and Illinois area and we have a large number of steel block Sprints available. Any spec restrictions would be costly and eleminate a large number of already available cars. There is merit in feature winners being placed somewhere in the field. When we ran the Support Series the previous winner had to start no better than 10th in next feature race. It seem to work out fine. We had a winner from 10th one time and what a show that was. My plan is for all racers to run two races of a heat and a qualifier. Both races will pay passing points with the second races you run started in reverse from the finish of the first. Points from both races will determine your Feature and B Main starting positions. This will enable you to run a minimum of three races a night. Feature will be twenty lap maximum with a sixteen car starting field. I need any Illinois racers to get ahold of me for I would like to work on the Series in Illinois. I Thank everyone for their interest.

Re: Steel block sprint car group

My point was that you could truely offer something different as oppossed to the same thing with steel blocks instead of Aluminum. You could offer a series with a wing and yet still be cost effective and then you could give the promoter something that no one else offers.

You know way more about running a series than I do and you know your market. I just thought that the French-Grimes Deal would honestly be a cost effective series with an added benefit to the promotor in the form of wings. The rules are already laid out and have proven to be very effective.

Best of Luck

Re: Steel block sprint car group

I have to agree with Gentry. If you limit the series to just a steel block, a guy who may have a low buck aluminum motor can't run. This would be my recomendation:
1.Injector sleeves to 3/16 or ASCS intake gasket.
2.Aluminum motor guy will have to bolt on weight in the center of the car.
3. DT-3 or equivelent on RR
