This year the track did not find an outside party to pay for turning the track to dirt. Last night they had a monster truck show. They had the biggest crowd they have in a very long time. More people then the WOO dirt shows they past few years. Only other time they had a crowd this size was the night 2 of the Duck Dynasty guys were there to sign autographs and drive the pace car. Not making this up. The show last night had to be delayed for all the people to get off the road from the traffic jam and get into the track.

So for the show they had 9 trucks. 4 of them did a wheel stand over a stack of cars, other 5 did doughnuts. Then the 9 of them did a side by side drag race over 2 piles of cars for about 100 yards. Then all of them had a 3 minute free style drive of stuff on the front side of the track. Total time of stuff going on was about 1/2 hours for about 2 hours of time. Did not see to many racing tee shirts in the crowd.
Also the past week the track was rented out by the Nation fireworks association. It was people who make-sell book firework shows. At night in the week they had shows that were closed to the public. Got to see some of it from over the trees at my house. After the truck show they put on the biggest fireworks show ever seen in Michigan. I saw it and would agree with that.

Kinda sad isn't it? This last Friday at Spartan Speedway it was the same deal. School bus races. The crowd was the biggest I had ever seen there.

Night of destruction at Lawrenceburg had a massive crowd also. The key with those events is the kids. Kids love those types of events, and of course parents enjoy that with their kids. Younger kids often don't have the level of appreciation for a good race that adults do, so racing may not be as entertaining to them.

Try running them every week and see how the crowds do after a few weeks.
