Jerry Landon Klassic at the Kalamazoo Speedway
August 21st

(Kalamazoo, MI) Windy City Promotions will be leasing the Kalamazoo Speedway on Sunday, August, 21st for the Jerry Landon Klassic. This will be the first time since 1997 that this race will be run in honor of the great Jerry Landon. The event will feature for the first time ever in the state of Michigan two sprint car groups in the same day on Asphalt.

The Must See Racing Winged Sprint Cars and Michigan Traditional Non-Winged Sprint Cars will be the Main Event for the evening. The Midwest Midgets, Midwest Compact Touring Series, and Midwest Hornets will round out the show. The Michiana Vintage Racers will also be doing an exhibition during the evening. The entire show will feature a $35K purse to bring the best open wheel racers around to the Kalamazoo Speedway.

Some of the expected drivers in the Must See Racing Sprint Cars are Teddy Alberts, Jason Blonde, HD Carter, Jerry Caryer, Jason Cox, Kyle Edwards, Grant Galloway, Ryan Gillwater, Ryan Litt, Jummy McCune, Kyle Moonen, Kris Leming, Chris Neunschwander, Tyler Roahrig, Bobby Santos, Derek Snyder, Joe Speakman, Doug Stepke, and John Turnbull. The Michigan Traditional Sprints are expected to see Doug Dietsch, Don Dietsch, Mark Irwin, Joey Irwin, Don Hamilton, Harold Carter, Mark Strpko, Tom Patterson, Tony Main, Matt Goodnight, and Joe Speakman. The Non-Winged Sprints will also see Nick Landon, the son of Jerry, try to take home the win.

The racing action will begin at 6:00PM sharp with gates opening at 11:30AM. We encourage all fans to get there early with qualifying starting at 4PM for the Sprint Cars. Jerry Landon Klassic Cash Giveaway

(Hammond, IN) Windy City Promotions will be leasing the Kalamazoo Speedway on Sunday, August, 21st, for the return of the Jerry Landon Klassic. The exciting night of racing will feature the Must Sprint Cars (Winged Sprints) and Michigan Traditional Sprints (Non-Winged Sprints) for the first time in the state of Michigan. The Midwest Midgets, Midwest Compact Touring Series, Midwest Compact Touring Series Hornets, and Michiana Vintage Racers will round out the show.

Windy City promotions will be doing a cash giveaway to some lucky fans at the Kalamazoo Speedway once we reach 2000 paid adults. Once the attendance reaches 2000 fans we will give away $1000.00 to a lucky fan. If that’s not enough for every 500 fans after 2000 we will give away another $1000.00 to lucky fans. If we get 5000 paid adults one lucky fan will receive $5,000 in cold hard cash. If we reach 5000 paid adults for our August 21st show we will give away a total of $11,000.00 in cash.

The Midwest Compact Touring, Must See Racing Sprints, Michigan Traditional Sprints, and Midwest Midgets Series will also be giving back to the kids. Drivers, sponsors, and crews from all the series will be giving away bikes to the kids in attendance as well. There will also be several other local business there with giveaways as well such as the Wings Event Center, Kalamazoo Wings Hockey Club, Tailgaters Sports Bar, and many more.

The Midwest Compact Touring Series is located out of Hammond, IN holding 12 events in 2016 in three states. The series offers a $1000 rookie of the year point fund and $1500 overall point fund for our series regulars. Less than a week away till the gates open. This is as close to an original Open Wheel Spectacular as they have had in the last 30 years.

I've been looking forward to this race ever since they scheduled it. We'll be running the non-winged portion of it. It should be a great show. Kalamazoo Speedway has the speed of a big track as well as the raciness (is that a word?) of a bull ring. Can't wait!

Should be a great show to honor a great racer.. With a little luck Nick can bring home a win and really set the place on fire.. We go back as far as the Tri-Sac days of open wheeled racing at Kazoo,, has always been an amazing place to run.

Sundays weather is looking grewt cant wait for this race to happen.
