First sorry for the quality of this video. Besides the normal youtube compression Kokomo had very poor lights in 1988 with most action severely backlit. In addition I was in turn 4 and the action is in turn 1. It was just a fluke really that the flip was in my lens. After one run through I zoom the frame for a replay.

You can't see car #'s so really I'm just hoping someone was there that night.

No, it was not Vince Osman. Unfortunately I was at Kokomo Speedway that night as well filming from the end of the backstretch. Kent Evans the owner asked me to mail a copy of the crash to K&K Insurance for their investigation. It was such a sad night. No one other than Mike O'Leary and K&K Insurance has ever seen that footage.

I wish I had a date for this 1988 accident but I wasn't documenting or taking notes my first few years of filming.

Another driver went over the fence in turn three much earlier than 1988 and ended up against the building way out there. I remember seeing pictures of that one in Open Wheel magazine.

Thanks for everyone's information and stay tuned for more vintage (1988-2009) IOW action.
