Thinking of coming out to 500 this year
![]() I got some friends that live in the area, but not sure I want to impose too much and hang with them for two weeks, I've been told I'm like fish, I smell ok for a few days, but than..... anyway, what would be some good short track races to see pre and post 500 ...Little 500, Kokomo after the 500, Is midget week right after 500? Any chance I can score a good single ticket for 500, place to stay for a week or two. tks for any info, Indy 500 virgin ![]() |

Not sure how long you will be here, so I will start two weeks before the Indy 500. This is in addition to the fact that there will be something at the track almost every day. May 20 - USAC sprints at Gas City; May 21 - Indy quals, USAC sprints @ Brownstown, midgets and regular show at Montpelier (a track I like and find relaxing); May 22 - Indy Quals; May 24 - practice at Anderson for Little 500; May 25 - USAC sprints at Terre Haute; May 26 - Hoosier 100 on the Indy Mile; May 27 - "Carb Day" at Indy; May 28 - USAC Silver Crown at Lucas Oil Raceway and Little 500 at Anderson; May 29 - Indy 500 and Kokomo Klassic that night. If you are staying in Indy, you might want to sign on for Bryan Clauson's second Indiana Double, with a bus taking you from Indy to Kokomo and back that night. Indiana Midget Week starts May 31 at Montpelier and runs through Sunday. It is followed the next week by Illinois Midget Week (or I think Illinois Speed Week officially). I think it tends to have more good shows than Indiana and larger fields, but that is just my opinion. I am sure there are other shows but these are the ones I have on my calender in which I am interested. You should check Anderson Speedway's schedule when it is up because I know there will be qualifications Thursday and Friday and perhaps a race Wednesday, but it isn't up yet. Hope it helps.

Little 500 is a must see event.... even if your a dirt fan. 33 sprint cars, 500 laps on a tight 1/4 mile high banked bullring. The leaders racing thru lapped traffic is worth the price of admission. The field has been strong the past few years with a combination of pavement vs dirt drivers.
Check the below link for results and other Little 500 stats; http://andersonspeedway.com/little-500/ |

Having never been to Anderson do they have a scoreboard to help with leader info? Not sure I can keep track of spots with that many cars and that many laps!

500 laps. I wouldn't consider that a sprint.
