Thank a Driver

This weekend another driver was hurt at I96 speedway. We have had a lot of injuries and even deaths as of late. This got me thinking.
As fans sometimes we are quick to criticize drivers. We get upset over the division, series or tracks they support and do not support. We get mad when a driver decides to take a weekend off or pulls out of the pits early to have some time at home. We criticize them for racing close to home rather than traveling because we would like to see them support our local tracks. We even get mad with the way they drive on the tracks at times. Most drivers do not make money racing. They are giving their time, money and sometimes much more to entertain us, the fans. Some of the drivers not finishing up weekly in races don't even receive the attention that other drivers do. Yet they are giving just as much. So next time you are in the pits or see a driver, tell them how much you appreciate them being there. Buy a shirt if you can or just say thanks. Without the drivers, this would be a boring sport. ![]() |
