Plenty Of Big Names Set For Friday At Lucas Oil Raceway
Schrader, Keselowski, Nemechek, Wallace, Sauter, Darnell, & Others It’s a huge racing weekend in the Circle City. In addition to all of the festivities being held at the big track for the top NASCAR classes, plenty of race fans will be flocking to Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianpolis for Friday night’s doubleheader. On tap are the Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200 presented by Federated Car Care for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and the Circle City 100 presented by Greg Hubler Chevrolet for the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS. Both entry lists are full of names you are familiar with. Headlining the list is former NASCAR Cup star Ken Schrader. The Fenton, MO native has been running plenty of Modified races on dirt, but also runs a healthy schedule of ARCA events. After his win at Salem earlier this year, Schrader will be looking to savor the taste of victory at LOR. Brian Keselowski, brother of former NASCAR Cup champion, Brad Keselowski will also pilot an ARCA car Friday night. Keselowski has had plenty of success behind the wheel of racecar and is excited to get back at it in Indianapolis. He has recently been working as a crew chief. Matt Wallace, son of NASCAR’s Mike Wallace, is an up and coming young star and will be competing in the Sioux Chief PowerPEX 200. Wallace has made just one ARCA start, which came with a 10th place finish earlier this season at Toledo. Matt isn’t the only Wallace competing. Steve Wallace, former NASCAR racer, will be in the Late Model event. He has had some recent success in his Late Model claiming wins and racing for championships in the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway. The Super Late Model list is also filled with talent. John Hunter Nemechek, who came up just inches short to Kyle Busch in last year’s race, will be back and determined to find victory lane. The son of former Cup driver, Joe Nemechek, John Hunter has been putting together some impressive finishes in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series after winning one of racing’s most prestigious events, the Snowball Derby. Travis Sauter, part of the famous Sauter racing family from Wisconsin, will be tough in his familiar #5. Sauter will likely be one of the favorites to keep Nemechek from taking the hardware. Former NASCAR campaigner, Erik Darnell, is also entered for the Circle City 100 presented by Greg Hubler Chevrolet. The Beach Park, IL driver has been tough at times in his Late Model racer. In all, 34 ARCA entries are expected with a strong field of 27 CRA drivers. The 300 laps of racing are much anticipated for fans and drivers alike at the beautiful Lucas Oil Raceway. Pit gates open Friday, July 24 at 8:30 for ARCA teams and 9:00 for CRA competitors. Grandstands will open and practice will begin at 12:45. Qualifying will start with CRA at 4:30 with ARCA qualifying at 5:30. Racing action will take the green at 7:00 with CRA on track, followed by the ARCA event. General admission and reserved tickets will be on sale at the gates on Friday starting at 12:45. For more information, visit*www.trackenterprises.com,arcaracing.com, or*cra-racing.com. |
