one of my freinds asked me the other day if i could go to one track in the usa to see a sprintcar race what would it be.he said it could be a track still running or one that has been shut down. and at first i thought of tracks like eldora or knoxville but after a couple of days and a little research i think i would have to go with ascot park...my question to you is what track would you pick and why? it can be a track that was shut down or still running

Ascot, I always thought that it the perfect design/surface for the non wings. Long enough for fast speeds and short enough to keep the a action close. It was hard to run away and hide out front like you can Knoxville and Eldora. A close second would be Manzy, Eldora and Knoxville in no paticular order. Have not made Perris yet but, I hear it is the top five too.

Reading, Pa. A big, wide half with dark clay that held moisture and stayed tacky like no other. Saw many a side by side battle for the win there with one car on the huggy pole and the other up on the cushion against the outside fence - maybe 40 feet between them. USAC sprints were outstanding there as were the weekly modifieds. My favorite track of all time.:thumb

I have been around racing my whole life and I cant think of a track. I haved lived here in Indiana the whole time so not much travel out of it. I would want to see for personal reasons Manzi, Williams Grove, and Ascot Park

I would have to say Jungle Park would be my pick. Around early 1930's, and a close second would be the old 5/8ths dirt track at Fort Wayne. Also Langhorne would have to be on my list as well.
1. Jungle Park
2. old Fort Wayne
3. Langhorne
4. Ascot
5. Oakland CA. (very high banks, steeper than Winchester)

1.The Old Limaland!!!
before Langhals screwed the place up.
It is a great facility now but the old shape of the track was perfect.
2.Little Springfield
3. Ascot park
4. The Big E
5 Indiana State Firgrounds @ night circa 1976
