This weekend, the Mo Vaughn Transport / BOSS tour is of to the Keystone state for a doubleheader at 2 of the tour's fastest race tracks. Friday night the series visits the historic Lernerville Speedway where a year ago a photo finish determined the main event winner. On Saturday, the traveling band of outlaw non wing racers will tackle to Monster Half Mile known as Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. In 2013, the last BOSS event there saw 11 unofficial lead changes among 6 different drivers in the 21 lap main event.
Friday night's show at Lernerville will be the third BOSS appearance in history with local driver Jack Sodeman Jr winning in 2013. A year ago Logan Hupp of Columbus, Indiana narrowly edged fellow Hoosier driver Dustin Smith to even the score for the BOSS touring drivers. Who will take round 3? A Pennsylvania local runner or a BOSS tour driver? Friday's gates open at 5 pm with drivers meeting at 6:30 and hot laps at 6:45. Racing action is set for 7 pm. General admission is $14 for adults with seniors only $10. Kids age 11-17 are $7 while kids 10 and under are free. Pit passes will be $30. For teams competing, transponders will be supplied for free by Precise Racing Equipment. They will have fuel and tires ONLY at Lernerville but not their entire parts truck. No mufflers are required for this event. On Saturday, BOSS visits the largest track on the schedule. Called the "Monster Half Mile", when measured in the high line where most cars run, the track is well over a half mile. BOSS drivers Kirk Jeffries, Tony Beaber, and Andre Layfield have all notched wins here along with PA local driver Jack Sodeman, Jr. This will mark the fifth event in BOSS history to be contested at PPMS. Promoter Matt Miley has many fun events scheduled for fans including a hot dog eating contest and a golf "closest to the pin" contest for ages 13 and up. For kids under 13, there will also be a "hole-in-one' mini golf contest. Early Vegas odds have Bucky the BOSS Beaver as the odds on favorite in the hot dog eating contest! Pit gates will be open all day Saturday but pits will be cleared at 4:30. Gates will officially open at 5 pm. Hot Laps will be at 6 with racing at 7 pm. General admission is $20 for adults with seniors in at $19. Kids age 13-16 are $10 while kids age 6-12 are $5. Kids 5 and under are free. Pit passes will be $35. Once again, Precise Racing Products will be supplying free transponders. Fuel only will be available at the track. There will be no parts truck. No mufflers are required at PPMS. The official host hotel of the weekend is the Super 8 in Harmarville, PA just north of Pittsburgh. Room rates are $71.99 when you ask for the BOSS racer's rate. The number to the hotel is 412-828-8900. The address is 8 Landings Drive, Harmarville, PA. There will be security arranged for the parking lot to watch the race haulers. This hotel has given us a great cancellation policy where you have until 4 pm on Friday to cancel your room. We hope to see everyone at the tracks this weekend for what promises to be an exciting doubleheader.
