2nd Annual "J.B. Robinson Memorial" This Friday Night at Bloomington Speedway

Bloomington, IN- April 19, 2015- Coming off of a highly successful and competitive opening night last Friday night, the Bloomington Speedway will roar back into action with a very special event this Friday. The second annual "J.B. Robinson Memorial" featuring the American Modified Series will headline the racing activities with an event paying $2,000 to win. J.B. Robinson was a staple at the Bloomington Speedway for decades. Whether it be sitting in the stands, working on cars, helping out other drivers, sponsoring numerous drivers, or just spending time with his family on the hillside, the owner of JB's Salvage in Bloomington was always at Bloomington Speedway. And you can guarantee that anytime you seen him, he had a smile on his face. WIth the unfortunate passing of this wonderful human being, we honor him with an event truly fitting of his stature. JB's son Kent Robinson grew up at the Speedway all of his life, cutting his teeth on the red clay mostly in a UMP Modified. Racking up feature wins throughout his young years, he has now moved into the ranks of the Super Late Model division, but will be in town to try to take home the trophy in his fathers memorial race. Three time and defending UMP Modified National Champion, Devin Gilpin of Columbus, IN is the defending champion of the JB Robinson Memorial.

Gilpin started off the year at Bloomington Speedway last friday night picking up the opening night win in the Ricks Automotive & Towing UMP Modified division coming from the seventh starting position. With the American Modified Series rolling into town, you can guarantee there will be some heavy hitters in the Modified ranks in the pits. The AMS has ran three events in 2015 with three different winners in Clayton Miller of Elkton, KY, Nick Stroupe of Iron Station, NC, and Brian Shaw of Robinson, IL. It will be the tour’s fourth visit to Bloomington Speedway, with previous series winners including Devin Gilpin (2014), Clint Demoss (2011), and John Demoss (2010). Miller currently leads the AMS points standings over Tyler Nicely and Josh Harris. Gilpin and Bradley Sterret are currently tied atop the current Bloomington Speedway track point standings going into this Fridays event. The event will feature a full program of practice, A-B group time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 30 lap, $2,000 to win/$200 to start J.B. Robinson Memorial A-Main.

Bryan Clauson picked up the win in the USAC/MSCS co-sanctioned event last Friday night. The ServPro Non Wing Sprints will be back in action this Friday night along with the KinserAirFilters.com 305 RaceSaver Sprints, in which Ryan Tusing scored the first ever victory in that division last Friday night. Making their season debuts this Friday will be the UMP Super Stocks and the Chad's LLC UMP Hornets.

Activities on Friday night April 24th will see the pit gates open at 4:30PM. General admission gates will open at 5:30PM. Hot laps will begin at 6:30PM with racing beginning at 7:30PM. General admission for this event will be $20 with pit admission $30.

Bloomington Speedway is a ¼ mile semi high banked, red clay oval racetrack in existence since 1923. The track is located in Bloomington, IN at the corner of Fairfax Road and Walnut Street Pike. Bloomington Speedway presents dirt track sports entertainment in its finest form on Friday nights from April to September.
