Bloomington Speedway Ready for 92nd Season Opener Featuring USAC/MSCS Co-Sanction
Bloomington, IN- April 14, 2015- After six months of sitting idle, the high banked red clay of the Bloomington Speedway will roar back to life in a big way. A co-sanctioned event featuring the USAC Sprints and the Midwest Sprint Car Series (MSCS) will kick off the 92nd season of racing at the famed ¼ mile with a huge $5,000 to win/$500 to start main event.
The USAC Amsoil National Sprint Cars have six completed events in the books, with one rainout at East Bay Raceway Park. Chase Stockon of Elizabethtown, IN currently leads the Amsoil National standings by a scant 11 point margin over two time winner in 2015 Robert Ballou of Rocklin, CA. 54-time USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car winner Dave Darland of Lincoln, IN sits third in the point standings ahead of a tie for 4th. Nine time feature winner and current, reigning, and defending USAC Amsoil Sprint Car Champion Brady Bacon of Broken Arrow, OK and fellow nine time winner Kevin Thomas, Jr. of Cullman, AL both sit tied for the fourth position. The USAC Amsoil National Sprint Cars most recent event on April 4th at the Lawrenceburg Speedway saw Logan Jarrett of Kokomo, IN score his first ever USAC victory.
The Midwest Sprint Car Series will also be in action in the co-sanctioned event, coming off of their opening event at the Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, IN on April 11th. Just like in the USAC point standings, Stockon currently leads the MSCS points standings. Casey Shuman of Rattlesnake Bend, AZ sits second in points over Ballou, Brent Beauchamp, and Daron Clayton. Stockon won the $4,000 to win opener at Putnamville, continuing his streak of consistency in 2015.
The Ricks Automotive & Towing UMP Modifieds will be itching to start their 2015 season on Friday night under the bright lights of the new Speedway lighting system. Defending track champion Chad Combs of Bloomington is ready to get his Combs Custom Carvings, Zatkoff Seals & Packagings, Spec powered, Factory Elite Chassis back on the red clay to attempt a back to back championship run. The UMP Modifieds should be out in numbers to get accustomed to the speedway before next Friday nights $2,000 to win 2nd Annual J.B. Robinson Memorial featuring the American Modified Series.
Making their first ever appearance at the track will be the brand new KinserAirFilter.com RaceSaver 305 Sprint Cars. This division poses the biggest question mark as to who will be competing. So far some confirmed names are Ethan Fleetwood, Eric Smith, and defending Chad’s LLC Hornet champion Luke Bland has the new cars ready to go. Who will join them this Friday night in the historic opener for this new series? We are hearing some drivers from out of state will be joining in the opening night festivities.
Activities for the season opener on Friday night April 17th will see the pit gates opening at 4:00PM, with the General Admission area opening at 5:30PM. Hot laps will begin promptly at 6:40PM followed by time trial qualifications for the USAC/MSCS Sprint Cars. Racing will follow directly after. General admission for this $5,000 to win event will be $20, with pit passes $30
