Haven't seen anyone post anything on any websites yet so here it is.
Just wanted to say a quick Thank you to "The King of the Outlaws" #11 Steve Kinser for the memories and congrats on an incredible 36 year career with the World Of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. ![]() He's won with a wing and with out a wing. In my opinion they don't come much better the Mr. Kinser. Wish Swindell would have been at the World Finals along with Wolfgang as a guest. Some classic races between these 3. If anyone has some good pictures of Steve post there if you would like. Here are a couple I found.

The best ever, without debate. Schatz is on quite a run, but as nathan said he did it with and without a wing also silver crown. If memory serves me i think he even won an iroc race (might be mistaken), but i know he was in it. Had a good run at the speedway as well. The Wayne Gretzky of sprint car racing! Thanks king Kinser, thanks very much.

Yes, Steve is for sure one of, if not the, best ever to sit in a sprint car. The IROC race he won was at Daytona. At that time, they never announced the winner of the IROC races, waiting till it was run on TV. I think it was Jeff Purvis who won the race in what is now the Nationwide series. In his interview, the first thing he said was “not a bad day for us ole dirt trackers”. I knew right then Steve had won the IROC race.
Nathan asked for pictures. I have one I would have liked to post if I could find it. Maybe someone else has it also. It is Steve sitting in the chute waiting to pushed off for his first ever sprint car ride. It is at Paragon Speedway in Dave Mitchell’s car and even still has Bobby Black’s name on it. Anyone else have it? |

Actually Steve's IROC win came at Talladega. I was there that day, wearing a Steve Kinser Tie Dye shirt. I got a lot of "you sure picked the right shirt to wear" comments from the Talladega fans.

I'm sure you're right about it being at Talladega. Been a long time and my memory is not as good as it once was.

His motto to sum up his sprint car career could definitely be "Veni, vidi, vici."

With all the deserved accolades being thrown Steve's way this year it will be a shame if the Outlaws don't acknowledge Sammy's contribution to the sport and their organization at some point next year. I bet as many people bought tickets to see Sammy lose as people bought tickets to see Steve win. I think Sammy retired quietly on his own terms but the sprint car world needs to give him a big round of applause and "Thank You" as well IMO.
