They just keep shooting themselves in the foot. At this rate they won't anything left of their feet to stand on.

Remind me again how well Versus did for the NHL and USAC?

"Another passionate audience, NHL fans, helped drive ratings and viewership during the 2007-08 season on VERSUS to significant increases (138 percent for the Stanley Cup finals, 50 percent for the regular season) in its third year on the network."

6-7 Indy Car races on ABC is still a Big Deal. This is not necesarily a bad thing for open wheel fans. VS (aka OLN) brought us some USAC (& I think WoO) races last season. If they start to build an audience of US open wheel fans, who knows where it could go. ...better than watching Pinks or allthingsNASCAR. Is the title "Thursday Night Thunder" copyrighted? DirecTV is a great deal. (jmo)

David - Not being a smart guy, but if you start at .1%, and then get to .2% the next year, you've improved year over year by 100%.

But you're still at .2%...and that's not good.

Just pointing out what a statistic professor told me a long time ago, that "...there are lies, damned lies, and statistics. And you can make statistics say almost anything!"

I'd bet money that ESPN2 is in way more homes than VS. And if you don't have exposure opportunities, you don't get the new, casual viewers who are scrolling through the channels. And using the Stanley Cup year over year comparison really isn't a good comparison. Last year(2007), only Anaheim and Ottawa fans watched the Cup. Those are two relatively small markets. This year's final had Detroit vs. Pittsburgh, had much more fan appeal due to bigger stars and bigger markets...
