Yery sad news,"the flying eyeball"was always tough to beat in the 100 lappers they used to run at TSS! Rest in peace Gene!

And Gene won a 50 lap open competition sprint car race at Terre Haute in the early 1970s. He was the class of the field that day beating some of the better non-USAC drivers like Bobby Kinser and Dick Gaines.

I grew up as a lil kid watching Gene race the Buick at Champaign County Fairgrounds.
