Place was I'd say better attended than the Midget Week show. Good crowd and almost totally different crowd. Although i seen several regs. A lot were missing.

Couple sitting next to me were newbies. who'd never been there or any dirt track but they both had their M&M's and Skittles Nascar Jackets complete with headsets "Said they were listening to PA on FM" Woman was real nice but couldn't understand why there was another feature to run after the mods. I explained how normally there are 3 or 4 classes, That the LM's were the undercard and follows the headliner class. But that the LM's were actually faster. I think she freaked when Duane Chamberlain Put it between the wall and Jason Jamison, caught the wall out of four and spun all the way down the straight.

You could tell they liked it. I told them to come back next sunday, Come early for a good seat and see the USAC sprints and they have the mods too. The guy was like "WE'LL BE HERE"

Just wanted to add a couple things. Both Weasel Rhoads and Darryl Herbert who raced against Merrill at times were on the track racing last night

Also seen Matt Westfall who I may see in person every couple of years but calls me by name, always had kind words to say and and a handshake. Last time I seen him in person was Mini Magic Mile Duquoin 2012

Reminds me a lot of Merrill in his kindness with the fans. While Most drivers and teams I meet are nice and Im grateful for that.

Theres something about the ones willing to take the extra minute to welcome and make fans feel at home that take short track racing above and beyond the corporate/standoffish media hyped big leagues.

P.S. every year I sponsor the 19th place finisher and I'll be damned if for the second time the corbin boys in mod #19 got the extra cash. lol what do ya say....
