So is running an 08 R1 in 3rd gear with a 13 tooth engine gear the same final ratio as running it in 2nd gear with a 14 tooth engine gear? Axle gear at a 49 tooth staying the same with both combos. Thanks in advance!

No. 14 x 49 in 2nd gear nets you a 10.92 ratio. 13 x 49 in 3rd gear is 10.04. If you used 13 x 53 in 3rd, you would be real close at 10.86.
