Looking for hotel suggestions

Traveling to Iowa for the Knoxville Nationals and looking for a decent hotel room.
I don't mind staying an hour from the track if it means a better rate. I've been searching expedia.com, hotels.com, etc just looking for actual experience on an actual city or even particular hotel. ****edit**** cheaper the better but will not go the cheapest but I want a decent room at $150 or less a night.

I just canceld my room at the red carpet inn (less than .5 mile from track) but I'm sure there was a waiting list.. My room was $145 fir 1 queen bed a night but had to reserve it for 6 nights.. Good hunting

I might be attending the Nationals for the first time this year. My Dad wants to go and I have always thought it would be cool to attend. I will probably get a hotel in Des Moines. It is less than an hour away and I usually have to drive further than that to get to any race I go to except Tri State and Clay County.

Try Chariton IA, only a half hour south. Easy drive and plenty of places to eat and get supplies. Pella is an interesting town.
Des Moines isn't that far but these smaller towns are pretty hassle free. |
