Miller Magic Mystifies Raceway 7 Fans
On a chilly historic night in Conneaut, Ohio, Wapakoneta, Ohio's Mike Miller scored a much deserved and long awaited first career Buckeye Machine BOSS feature win. The "Magic Man" always seemed to just appear from nowhere into the top 5 a year ago, but despite many top fives, had never found victory lane on the tour. A deep heat race draw set the stage for a great display of passing to win his heat race, then Miller parlayed his 3rd starting feature redraw into a convincing win in front of one of the largest crowds in recent Raceway 7 history. The win gave Miller the points lead by a mere 4 points, as the High Side Hustler, Michael Fischesser of Sayler Park, Ohio charged from 7th to 2nd in the A-Main to barely lose the points lead. Defending champion Tony Beaber scored a 3rd place finish while Brandon Spithaler and Dustin Smith rounded out the top 5 finishers. Raceway 7 fans, many of whom were witnessing their first ever traditional non wing sprint race, got quite a thrill in the main event. The Grafton, West Virginia Crowd Pleaser, Andre Layfield bicycled getting into turn 1 and then went cartwheeling up and over the turn one catch fence to find a parking place in the general admission parking lot. Thankfully, Andre was only shaken up and walked away from the incident. The series now heads to Mercer Raceway Park in Pennsylvania for event #5 tonight.
