They did an excellent job and the racing was impressive. UMRA is a compliment to Indiana Sprint Week. They respected the size of the track and the speed. It was great to see an excellent car count. It is gratifying to see Three Quarter Midget Racing doing so well particularly with all the forms and versions of Midget Racing today. This is a series with tremendous tradition and a great heritage, I am glad it is surviving and appears to be prospering. Hopefully this will continue for many future racing seasons.

I thought the 3/8s mile track was to big for them.

I saw them run when the track was 1/4 mile and they put on one heck of a show. Better than the show they put on Sat.I also notice a couple of blown engines that probably would not have happened on a 1/4 mile.

They were fine. I'll take them over modifieds or street stocks any day of the week.

Those Goff boys must have supplied half the cars in the field. And Tony Stewart's TQ driver has to do better on re-starts.

I thought the UMRA TQ feature was the best of the evening on Thursday night.

While they did have a couple of flips during one heat, it was the first time they had been on the new speedway. I believe six USAC cars flipped the night before, and many of the USAC teams had the opportunity of racing there before the USAC Sprint Week shows.

As far as blown engines. I believe that's been happening in all divisions as they figure out which gears to run. My first night there -- the Saturday before sprint week -- modifieds kept damaging their left front suspension by misjudging the berm in turns three and four. Does that mean the track is not appropriate for them because they are having that problem? Donny Schatz blew his engine in his car at Eldora on Tuesday while competing in the 360 sprint race. Does that mean he should not race 360s again? Or at Eldora?

I'll bet a lot of people who get on here and gripe about the TQs at Lawrenceburg did not even bother staying for the feature; did not see the improvements these guys made.

I thought the TQ feature was pretty good myself. It was cool to see Terry win his 100th feature. It's a shame though to see a guy with a lot of natural driving and fabricating skills not get the chance to move up after all those years though.

Personally I don't feel the track size had anything to do with motor problems. The shows I have seen in the last few years have all been plauged with mechanical issues by numerous cars. Usually I see cars with fuel system or electrical system problems which can lead to motor failures quickly also.

All in all they put on a good race though. Much better then the AMSA feature which was a joke. That club needs to get a handle on engines or Mr. Horton is going to be racing by himself here shortly I'm afraid.
